A Word from Dr. Collins

Dear St. George's Family,

Even though there is more than a little chill in the air, we had a great week at school.  Students took full advantage of the "Shrek" musical practice Wednesday afternoon during parent-teacher conferences.  I hope the parent-teacher conferences were beneficial for your family.  If you have any further questions or feedback, please feel free to contact your child's teacher or division coordinator.  Also, if you have any input on the process of the parent-teacher conferences, please pass that along to me (lcollins@sges.org).

Next week will be a very busy week with various activities for students, parents, and the entire community.  This Wednesday, February 25th, is our next "Lunch and Learn" with photographer Gregory Foster.  The program will begin around 12:15 pm, and you are welcome to bring your lunch or purchase lunch from Mill Towne Gourmet for $10.  Please RSVP Jannellen Rigg (jrigg@sges.org) by noon on Tuesday, February 24 to secure lunch from Mill Towne.

On Thursday, February 26th, we will host a parent discussion forum entitled "Navigating Social Media with Your Child."  Trey Sheneman, co-founder of Pipeline, will lead the discussion and the program will be from 7:00 pm to 8:15 pm.  We will have coffee and dessert and childcare will be provided.

On Friday, February 27th, is our annual middle school science fair.  The students will present their projects to judges from the community.  The science fair will be in Toland Gym from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm and is open to the public.

We have had a very good response to re-enrollment.  We are 20 students ahead of enrollment from last year's corresponding date, which is 23% increase.  This week began our open enrollment for new families.  We have various modes of marketing, but the most meaningful is the testimonies of our families.  I trust you will share your experiences with families that might want a similar opportunities for their families.  Susan Bartholomew (sbartholomew@sges.org) and I are happy to visit with any prospective family you might know.

Please remember the deadline for initial financial aid awards is Sunday, March 1st.  It is our goal to assist families who desire to enroll their children when their current financial situation may not make that manageable.  Please contact Susan Bartholomew (sbartholomew@sges.org) if you have any questions.

The Get-Away-Gig is fast approaching. The opportunity to advertise on the t-shirt has been extended until Monday, February 23rd. Larry Collins
