May 2013
Dreams do come true.
Greetings!

It's that time of year when creative activities and one-day events start buzzing in Haverhill. May is so much more than Cinco de Mayo and Mother's Day, as much as we love to celebrate those national holidays ("Otro, Guillermo" and love to my wicked stepmother.)

Check out Kids Fest, The Rose Tea, Opening Day at the Haverhill Firefighting Museum, and a plethora of music and art at NECC.

You might also enjoy creating a container garden with plants from the annual Haverhill Garden Club plant sale.

NEW! Creative Business of the Month (see sidebar), which focuses on local entrepreneurs who make Haverhill, Haverhill. Remember to list your events and creative businesses on our website so you can be included in the selection process. It's also free advertising on Haverhill's most popular resource for Things to Do around town.

Now that Creative Haverhill and The Chamber are working in tandem to nurture our creative economy, Sven and I are busy working on creative solutions and benefits for local, small businesses. That includes owner/operators (AKA individual artists/artisans), creative retail (lots opening this month downtown!), and designers/manufacturers who provide creative products and services. I'll keep you updated as things develop and can tell you we are having a great time together.

Meantime, get out and about and Have a Creative Day!

Starving Artists NO MORE!
A hit, a very palpable hit.

What great fun and learning we had at our first meeting in April. It's unanimous that our newest forum for the creative workforce will meet every month on the fourth Tuesday. Next mtg: 5/28.

Up Next: Critique Night

At our next meeting on 5/28, members with visual art or communication will bring in up to 3 samples of work for open critique. We will also discuss members' Top 10 lists of consumer benefits associated with their products and services. If you would like to attend, please register so we can get a head count for snacks and beverages.
