Digital Citizens
Students in Mrs. Price's 4th grade classroom at Marshall Elementary are well on their way to becoming responsible digital citizens. Using freely available online tools, they recently created blog posts to | | Crazy Hair Day! |
share about their historical fiction reading unit. These student-created blog posts contain media (photos, links to video, mapping sites), creative written summaries, reactions to their reading, and more, and are then posted to the classroom intranet. Said Mrs. Price: "Students are incredibly engaged with both the activity and each other. They love looking at each others' work online and commenting on it." Feel free to contact Mrs. Price for more information on the tools she is using in her 21st century classroom. |

April Highlights from the Wisconsin Historical Museum
Beth Lemke, Museum Educator, Wisconsin Historical Museum We all use maps to find our way. Yet maps can show much more than destinations. They help define who we are and where we belong, and can help us understand our world in new ways. Beginning April 2, 2013 at the Wisconsin Historical Museum visitors can view the newest temporary exhibit You Are Here: Maps & Meanings. Come see a variety of striking, intriguing and revealing maps from the rich collection of the Wisconsin Historical Society and explore the place we call "Wisconsin." The Wisconsin Historical Museum is pleased to share its exhibits, collections and stories with school groups. You can review your visit options by checking out the Wisconsin Historical Museum's Printable Field Trip Catalog. Museum Education staff look forward to working with you to identify your group needs and tailor a program to enhance your museum visit. National History Day in Wisconsin
Sarah Klentz, National History Day Coordinator
The Southeastern Regional was held in Milwaukee on March 2 at the UW-Milwaukee campus! Over 500 students from all over the area brought their best projects. Overall the competition was highly successful and there were a lot of great projects!
The Southcentral Regional was held in Madison on March 9! Despite the rainy weather, the students, parents, teachers, and judges all met to celebrate history! We had more new schools than ever in attendance with 270 students attending.
Visit the NHD website for details on the remaining regional competitions in La Crosse, Eau Claire, Green Bay, and Stevens Point.
We want to thank all the teachers, parents, students, and volunteers that take time out of their busy schedules to help with these events! We look forward to the next regionals!
Interested in volunteering for a regional or statewide competition? Sign up to be a judge or volunteer.
Thank you!
