FAMILY VACATION... ALTERNATIVES TO DISNEY & THE BEACH
|
I recently posed this question on the New Orleans Baby Fest facebook page and received some AMAZING family vacation ideas:
"I see lots of friends post on facebook asking for family vacation ideas. Disney World and the beach are obvious suggestions, but what about family vacation destinations that are not so obvious. Any ideas?"
 1. Gatlinburg & Great Wolf Lodges Gatlinburg and any of the Great Wolf Lodges!!!! - Kristen Q. 2. Ruby Falls/Look Out Mountain & Mobile, AL Ruby Falls & Look Out Mountain are great as long as your kids aren't too young...I'd say ages 5+.
A day trip to the USS Alabama & the submarine on location are really cool too. We took our son when he was about 5/6 and he had a blast. They have huge tanks and a giant warehouse full of aircraft too. - Jme B. 3. Out West Anywhere out west...Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park. Also Washington DC! The US has so many options! - Le Jouet 4. Thomas the Train/Chattanooga If you have a child that likes Thomas the train, look into A Day Out with Thomas. It is a traveling life-size Thomas train. We've been to several and my kids enjoyed it. When we went to the one in Chattanooga, we spent several days at the train museum and doing activities around town. The kids loved Ruby Falls and Rock City. - Kathy K. 5. State Parks State parks...we introduced our grandsons to one in Mississippi and have gone to several in other states...cheap but you experience waterfalls, waterparks, rock climbing, nature and paved bike trails, beautiful beaches and on and on. - Mary T.
