July 2012
Welcome to our July Xgen Customer Newsletter!

We are delighted to announce the release of the first Ultra-Quiet products from our market leading Xgen platform. The Excelsys Xgen Ultra-Quiet are the industry's quietest modular power supplies and offer exceptional performance for applications that are noise and vibration sensitive including, medical, laboratory, scientific, audio and broadcast applications.

In our newsletter, we are pleased to introduce the new and improved Xgen catalogue. This upcoming publication contains the latest Xgen product information including product datasheets, technical and application support information. We also include an interesting application note exploring the subject of Ripple and Noise Measurement techniques. Written by our expert Applications Engineering group, this application note explores the methodologies for ripple and noise measurement in order to ensure accuracy in these measurements.
Your feedback on our newsletter is always welcome. Please feel free to contact us with your comments, opinions and suggestions for specific future feature topics.

Application Note: Ripple & Noise Measurement
medical image2Switching regulators inherently generate some noise during their operation due to the non-linear nature of the voltage and current waveforms. Some of this noise will appear on the output voltage terminals, and will ultimately be 'seen' by the load. Understanding how much noise can be critical for some applications, so when a vendor states the maximum values for these on their datasheet we need to know how this is quantified.
Being able to measure this is key, and this paper looks the various methods that can be used to measure ripple and noise on a power supply and how these can effect the perceived measured values.
