The Petroleum Quality Institute of America (PQIA) is pleased to announce that Prime Lube has joined PQIA's growing list of lubricant manufacturers, marketers, additive suppliers, and other supporters working to help assure the quality and integrity of motor oils, transmission fluids, and antifreeze/coolants in the market.
Prime Lube, headquartered in Carteret, NJ, markets Chevron, ExxonMobil, Castrol and its own API-certified Prime Plus line, for a wide range of automotive, heavy-duty and industrial lubricants. Founded in 1987, Prime Lube began with two trucks and has grown to become a premier lubricant distributor in the Northeast United States.
Donald Di Vite, VP & Principal Partner at Prime Lube, Inc., says "We welcome the opportunity to support PQIA's efforts to assure the quality and integrity of lubricants in the market. Lubricant quality has been an ongoing issue and PQIA has done an outstanding job raising awareness about the issue through its website, newsletters, press releases, work with News12 NJ, CBS News, the NJ department of Consumer Affairs, and other states and media; PQIA is making a difference." With that Di Vite adds, "We support PQIA because we would like to see its good work continue and expand; its work is in the best interest of consumers, end users and those in the business that market quality lubricants."
Thomas F. Glenn, president of the Petroleum Quality Institute of America says, "We appreciate Prime Lube's kind words, and its support and commitment to help assure the quality of lubricants in the market. While it is clear we still face serious challenges with poor quality off-spec engine oils and other lubricants in the market, it is with the help of Prime Lube and our other supporters that we are able to continue our work to help clean up the market by shining a light on the issue and bringing the concerns to the attention of consumers."
To date, PQIA has identified and made public, information on over 20 different brands of packaged motor oils and ATFs on retail shelves that can cause damage to car engines or transmissions. In addition, dozens more brands have been found that fail a claimed specification or are labeled with false or misleading claims.
