NOCO Joins to Support PQIA's Efforts to Help Assure the Quality and Integrity of Lubricants in the Market
|
September 25, 2014
The Petroleum Quality Institute of America (PQIA) is pleased to announce that NOCO has joined PQIA's growing list of lubricant manufacturers, marketers, additive suppliers, and other supporters working to help assure the quality and integrity of motor oils, transmission fluids, and other lubricants in the market.
Founded in Tonawanda, N.Y. in 1933 by Reginald B. Newman, NOCO offers a wide range of products, including gasoline, commercial fuels, natural gas, propane, heating oil, electricity, bio products, and a full line of branded and private label commercial and consumer automotive lubricants, industrial oils, metalworking fluids, process oils, and specialty oils and chemicals. The company supplies customers in the US and Canada.
NOCO also operates a recovery services division, and owns a chain of 37 convenience stores with locations throughout western New York.
Fred Giese, Sr. VP at NOCO says, "As a third generation, family-owned company NOCO built its business and reputation on the fundamental principle of 'doing the right thing.' This starts with providing quality products and services to our customers. We feel it is important to support PQIA's efforts because they support NOCO's interests and the interests of other reputable suppliers by assuring the quality of lubricants in the marketplace. Although it's clear there is more work to be done, PQIA efforts are having a positive impact on lubricant quality and have significantly raised awareness about the issue. More than standing by applauding PQIA's efforts, NOCO is pleased to step up and support them."
PQIA's President Thomas F. Glenn says, "We welcome NOCO's support and its commitment to quality demonstrated by its agreement, like all our supporters, to the PQIA Supporter Code of Conduct." Further Glenn adds, "It is with the support of NOCO and others that we have the resources to continue to pursue our mission to serve the consumer of lubricants by testing and reporting on the quality and integrity of lubricants in the marketplace."
To date, PQIA has identified over 20 different brands of packaged motor oils and ATFs on retail shelves that can cause damage to car engines or transmissions. In addition, dozens more brands have been found that fail a claimed specification or are labeled with false or misleading claims.
