eVoice - November 17, 2015
Last year, 23,000 Polk County kids struggled with hunger.

With your help, DMARC provided 900,000+ meals for 15,000 of these children.
HUNGER:
  • robs our children of their innocence
  • contributes to diabetes, high blood pressure, and other preventable diseases
  • leads to fatigue and missed school days
  • results in lost work days and reduced productivity
  • diminishes the overall quality of life and well-being in our community
How Your Dollars Help Us
We understand there are many charitable causes worthy of your support. Thank you for your consideration of a year-end or recurring donation to the DMARC Food Pantry Network. Your cash gifts will help families in Des Moines that urgently need assistance to meet their basic food needs.

Here are some examples of how your dollars can help us:

The Comparison Project Lecture this Thursday
The central focus for Christians has been on the death of Jesus Christ; it is his dying and death and resurrection that have shaped what Christians have believed, taught, and hoped. In this lecture, some of the implications and limits of this model for death will be brought to light. While we recognize enormous diversity in practice and actual experiences of Christians, some issues persist in the way this tradition has understood how death fits within the totality of human existence.

Lucy Bregman has been at Temple University since 1974 and is the author of multiple books on death and dying, including Death in the Midst of LifeBeyond Silence, and Preaching Death. She has also chaired the American Academy of Religion's program unit on Death, Dying, and the Beyond.

This event is free and open to the public. Please note the location change.

The DMARC Food Pantry Network consists of 12 separate pantry sites, a centralized warehouse, and numerous community partners. It is the largest food pantry network in Iowa. Pantry sites are located in West Des Moines, Ankeny, Johnston, Urbandale, and eight sites in Des Moines. MovetheFood is a DMARC-led initiative to address the entire food system in Greater Des Moines, building on nearly 40 years of the Food Pantry Network, catalyzing fresh generations, and engaging new constituencies to further support a vision for a day when everyone in Polk County has enough to eat.
