Yesterday, we honored those who have lost their lives in the service of this country. The men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation will never be forgotten.

1 in 5 Children in Polk County Does Not Have Enough to Eat
|
|
*Hungry and food-insecure children are:
- at least 50 percent more likely to miss days of school;
- nearly twice as likely to be suspended;
- almost 50 percent more likely to repeat a grade; and
- more likely to drop out, which often results in reduced life-time earnings.
Each month, DMARC provides nutritious food for over 5,000 hungry kids and their families, helping keep kids in school where they can learn.
You Support Makes This Possible - Thank You!

Westminster Fine Arts Presents "The Real Inspector Hound"

Farcical, fantastic, and at times just plain silly, Westminster Fine Arts presents their final offering of the season, Tom Stoppard's hilarious send up of Agatha Christie's whodunnits: "The Real Inspector Hound." While watching (and commenting rather loudly) a repertory production of a British murder mystery, two critics become involved in the play, the mystery and even the murders themselves.
As part of the Westminister Fine Arts Series, there is no charge for this event. Reservations recommended. Please call 515-274-1534 or email fineartsseries@westpres.org. Childcare provided.

Who Are We?
The Des Moines Area Religious Council is an interfaith organization with a core membership of over 130 congregations from four faith traditions. Recipient of the 2012 LIVE UNITED Advocate Award from the United Way of Central Iowa, DMARC provides a common means of responding to basic human needs and a context for interfaith dialogue.
The DMARC Food Pantry Network consists of 12 separate pantry sites, a centralized warehouse, and numerous community partners. It is the largest food pantry network in Iowa. Pantry sites are located in West Des Moines, Ankeny, Johnston, Urbandale, and eight sites in Des Moines. In 2013, the DMARC Food Pantry Network assisted more than 34,000 individuals in the greater Des Moines community; half of whom are children and youth.
MovetheFood is a DMARC-led initiative to address the entire food system in Greater Des Moines, building on nearly 40 years of the Food Pantry Network, catalyzing fresh generations, and engaging new constituencies to further support a vision for a day when everyone in Polk County has enough to eat. |
