Volunteer with DMARC/CISS for Spring Into Action, March 16

DMARC/MovetheFood and Central Iowa Shelter & Services are teaming up for Spring Into Action, an all-day donation drive on Monday, March 16, 2015.

 

From sunrise to sunset (7:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.), volunteers will be lining Mulberry Street in front of DMARC and CISS to collect donations of food, clothing, personal items, and monetary donations. DMARC will receive all food items, and CISS will receive all clothing and personal items. The money will be split evenly between the two organizations.

Polk County River Place Food Pantry Seeking Regular Volunteers

Polk County and the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) have partnered to open the Polk County River Place Food Pantry located at 2309 Euclid Avenue, beginning March 9, 2015. In an effort to better serve the needs of the population residing in the immediate and surrounding areas of the food pantry, specialty ethnic foods have been identified and will be available. Food pantry hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 

 

Polk County River Place Food Pantry is currently seeking volunteers to fill 3 hour shifts. Food Pantry volunteers will assist customers with selecting food and stocking shelves. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the food pantry at 515-286-3695, or sign up online.
Volunteer at Partnership Place in Johnston
Partnership Place in Johnston is in need of volunteers. Their hours of operation are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. - noon, and Saturdays 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.  Sign up for a volunteer shift online.
Food Pantry Volunteers at West Des Moines Human Services
Food pantry volunteers are needed at West Des Moines Human Services, 139 6th Street, West Des Moines. Assist clients with food orders, keep the pantry neat and orderly, stock shelves, and accept food donations. Requires lifting of approximately 20 lbs. Morning and afternoon shifts available, Monday through Friday (excluding Wednesday and Friday afternoons).
