The 12th Annual Hy-Vee Colossal Cookie Sale begins this Sunday! Stop in at any Des Moines Area Hy-Vee or Hy-Vee Drugstore from September 7-22 to support the DMARC Food Pantry Network/Move the Food.
Cookies are sold for $0.12 apiece, or $10.99 for 100. For every cookie sold, Hy-Vee will donate one penny to the Des Moines Area Religious Council in the form of food products.
Since 2003, Hy-Vee has sold over 8.5 million cookies and donated more than $85,000 to DMARC through the Colossal Cookie Sale.

DSM Open Street SW 9th is being held this Sunday, September 7, from 12:00-4:00 p.m. on SW 9th Street between Watrous and Park Avenues. This event is free and open to the public.

Jonathan Spyer Speaking at Breakfast Program Tomorrow

Jonathan Spyer will speaking tomorrow, September 5, via Skype to discuss the ongoing crises in Syria and Iraq, the rise of Islamic State, the situation of the Kurds, Qatar and the Muslim Brotherhood, and much more. The event will be held at Temple B'nai Jeshurun, 5101 Grand Ave. in Des Moines.
Bagel breakfast will begin at 7:15 a.m. with the Skype conversation to begin at 7:30 a.m. There is no charge to attend.
Dr. Jonathan Spyer is a senior research fellow at the Global Research in International Affairs Center in Herzliya, Israel, and a fellow at the Middle East Forum. He is the author of The Transforming Fire: The Rise of the Israel-Islamist Conflict (Continuum, 2010) and a columnist at the Jerusalem Post newspaper. Spyer holds a PhD in International Relations from the London School of Economics and a Masters' Degree in Middle East Politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London.
