Basic Functions
- Cooperates with the materials management and facilities team to provide support mechanisms to enable quality end-of-life care.
- Maintains safe, clean and attractive areas surrounding the organization's facilities.
- Performs painting, routine maintenance, and repair duties as needed.
- Facilitates and assists with movement of equipment and furniture as needed.
- Monitors and assesses quality of work performed by outside maintenance service companies.
- Actively serves on the safety committee.
- Performs routine inspections of facilities and grounds, and assures follow-up repairs and maintenance as appropriate.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous maintenance experience preferred.
Requirements
- Ability to operate and maintain minor equipment.
- Ability to perform painting, drywall repair, routine maintenance, and repair duties, as well as basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical.
- General knowledge of grounds keeping.
- General knowledge of all hand tools, power tools.
- Ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Basic written and oral communication skills, as well as basic math skills.
- Basic keyboarding and computer skills with the ability to learn work related software.
- Ability to work independently and to manage time efficiently.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must hold a current Iowa driver's license and auto liability insurance.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and-or 25-50 pounds of force frequently, and-or 10-20 pounds of force constantly.
- Works in well-lighted, climate-controlled environment. Occasionally works in outside environment.
- Travel required between locations.
A pre-employment physical, drug screen and background check are required.

LSI Global Greens Farm Marketing Specialist

Looking for a job that makes a difference? LSI seeks a dedicated and energetic individual to work full-time as a Farm Marketing Specialist within the Refugee program in Des Moines.
Duties
Farm Marketing Specialist assists and supports refugee clients as growers in LSI's Global Greens Farm: Beginning Farmer Training Program. Provide direct instruction to growers in the areas of small business goals and record keeping of production, sales and farm financial management. Supports growers in accessing local farmer's market opportunities and other outlets for selling their produce. Coordinates and partners with internal marketing/communications department to promote the Global Greens Farm brand. Requires two Saturdays a month and some evening hours during the June through September market season.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma/GED required. Ideal candidates will have proficiency in farm work, farm management or small business development. Experience in organic and sustainable agriculture and knowledge of local farmer's markets and the general local food movement in the area is a plus. Must be able to and demonstrate culturally competent social skills and interactions.
This position requires a valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record and the ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check.
