DMARC is committed to providing food pantry clients with access to fresh produce. One program that helps us in this goal is Meals from the Market. Sponsored by Great Western Bank, the Meals from the Market booth operates at the Des Moines Downtown Farmers' Market every Saturday during the summer season. Volunteers collect fresh produce donations from vendors, which are then distributed to DMARC's 12 food pantries in the greater Des Moines area. Watch the short video below to see the program in action.
This month, DMARC will be hosting family activities at the Meals from the Market booth on July 19 and 26. The booth is located at the corner of 2nd and Court Aves. Children can complete an art project based on the MyPlate nutritional guidelines, and older visitors to the booth can play bean bag toss.
Dallas' Mission Brings in Baby Food for Pantries
One Des Moines couple has turned a family tragedy into an opportunity to serve their community. After losing their son Dallas before birth in 2011, Tyler and Wendy Davis felt called to hold an annual food drive for babies in his honor. In 2012, 781 bottles and 2,047 meals were collected. In 2013, 271 bottles and 884 meals were collected. This year, 4,736 servings of baby food were collected and donated by Dallas' Mission.  DMARC is so thankful for this amazing contribution! For more updates on Dallas' Mission, like the Dallas' Mission Facebook page.
An Opportunity to Donate for Diapers
DMARC recently came across an opportunity to purchase diapers at a largely discounted price: approximately 15 cents a diaper. Though DMARC normally restricts purchases to food items, we do not want to pass up with opportunity to address a great need that constantly exists among our clients. We are asking you to help us in this effort.

For $14.60, you can cover the cost of a box of diapers. With 48 boxes, our total need is $700.80. Please consider donating today. Your assistance is greatly appreciated! Please designate your donation for "July Diapers."

Potted Plants Available
Des Moines resident Wayne Johnson has offered a few potted plants to be donated to congregations who would like them. A large Crown of Thorns is available, four feet high and five feet in circumference. A nice, sunny spot inside is needed for the plant. With proper sun and infrequent watering, it will not shed leaves.
Several Night Blooming Jasmine are also available. According to Johnson, "These are messy plants inside as they drop most of their leaves in the winter when they are indoors. But the fragrance, when they are blooming, is heavenly."

If interested, contact Wayne Johnson at 515-279-3340.
