Catholic Pastoral Center presents Child Abuse and the Bowen Theory
Presenter: Walter H. Smith Jr., PhD. Oct. 26, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A common pattern of family functioning that is observed with child abuse and family violence is that it replicates over generations. This conference uses a Bowen family system theory framework to explain and understand how violence replicates in many generations of some families and does not repeat in others. As child abuse is another symptom in human functioning, understanding how it replicates over generations provides an opportunity to understand how anxiety and stress of past generations shape current individual and family functioning.
Cost $90, professional rate, $100 after Oct. 15. For religious/parish personnel and full time students, call 515-237-5045 or emiller@dmdiocese.org, to receive the discounted rate of $45.
