Message from Jackie
Dear Mountain Middle School Parents/Guardians:
Welcome back to the Mountain Middle School community. I am thrilled that you will be a part of our family this year. If you are joining us for the first time, I invite you to become an integral part of your child's education. If you are already a member of the MMS family, I am delighted to welcome you back and draw on your gracious hospitality in welcoming new parents to our school. We will continue to strive towards academic excellence for all students in this new school year. Our staff has created new projects aligned to standards and fine-tuned existing projects in order to give all our students a challenging learning experience in a hands-on environment. We will already be hard at work and immersed in professional development the week of August 13th. Dont forget to bring your kids to the MMS Student Leadership Picnic on August 18th. Some teachers will be there helping the kids start off the year right. Over the next few weeks you will receive regular communication about what to expect this year. In the meantime, you can find a list of school supplies here. Also, we will still need volunteers to help get the building ready for students. We are eagerly anticipating the arrival of our new flooring. Once that arrives, there will be ample opportunities for parents to help. Look for e-mails from Bess or call her at 970-828-5600 if you are in town and have a free moment to lend a hand. Through our commitment to our students and a practiced sense of integrity, we know that this will be a special year of growth, development and achievement for your child. I am excited to be a part of a staff and community working together to promote excellence in education. Together, we are building adept citizens with 21st-century skills. I look forward to seeing you all in person at the PTSO back to school supper on the 23rd. Kind Regards, Jackie

Save the Date - PTSO Back to School Potluck - August 23rd from 5 to 7
Please bring your family and join the Mountain Middle School family for a potluck supper for all MMS students. Join in food and fun and hear a welcome from our Head of School, Jackie Oros.
For dishes to bring, here are the assignments by last name:
A to I - Salads and Sides
J to S - Main Dishes
T to Z - Desserts (bars & cookies are easy to grab)
Families are also welcome to donate hotdogs.
Please sign up here for potluck donations. We need volunteers to help set up, clean up, help organize and a couple of other random needs.
If you can, a $5 per family donation will help defray the costs of the event.
Parking might be difficult. Please consider biking, walking, or some other creative way of arriving at our potluck supper.
Feel free to contact Sue with any questions. We look forward to seeing you there!
A limited number of MMS logo student planners ($8) and water bottles ($12) will be available for sale at the picnic. Look for other cool new logo merchandise there too. It all benefits the PTSO and helps our school.
