The Short Time Exposure (STE) Assay: Method and Use
|
Tuesday March, 19th
10:00 - 11:00 am EST
The Short Time Exposure (STE) assay, developed by Kao Corporation (Japan), is an in vitro assay used to assess the eye irritation potential of ingredients and final formulations. The assay was developed as an alternative to the Draize test and has completed intra- and inter-laboratory validations. Like many in vitro assays, the STE assay can be utilized as part of a tiered testing strategy to determine the ocular irritation potential of unknown materials. A draft OECD test guideline (TG) is being prepared for the STE assay, and is proposed to undergo peer-review in 2013. This webinar will present the steps for performing the STE assay and will discuss results from recent validation studies. The webinar will close with 15 minutes of question and answer time.
