Traveling to France this holiday season?
Keep an eye out for these newly released films!

100% Cachemire - Valerie Lemercier is both the actress and director for this film. You may remember her from Granny's Funeral (Adieu Berthe) shown at Focus on French Cinema this past year. Gilles Lellouch (Therese Desqueyroux) performs alongside her. Together they are a fortunate couple who decides to adopt a child...

Je fais le mort - Actor Francois Damiens, who was in Tango Libre (shown at FFC 2013), now plays the role of Jean - an unemployed actor given the job of playing a dead body in crime scene reconstructions. The director of this film, Jean-Paul Salome, also directed Female Agents (Les Femmes de l'ombre) shown at FFC in 2009.

Suzanne - Presented at the opening of critics week at Cannes last May, this much anticipated film is released this week in Paris. Main actress, Sara Forestier (winner of Best Actress in 2011 for Le Nom des gens) plays title character Suzanne - a troubled teenager whose story the film then follows for 25 years. This intense film shows Forestier's ability to incarnate deep feelings on a wide spectrum of pain, love and joy. As director Katell Quillevere said of the actress, "it is as if she had already had 100 lives".

Belle et Sebastien - Bring the whole family to see this new adaptation of the beloved Cecile Aubry story. First made for television in 1965, this newly released 2013 film will ensure a new generation falls in love with this classic. Directed by Nicolas Vanier, this story of a lonely little boy and his friendship with a wild dog during World War II is enchanting.
The Returned is acclaimed on this side of the Atlantic
This French TV series even delighted Stephen King!
In France, Les Revenants (The Returned) was a major success last year. Within hours of its release on the Sundance Channel in the U.S., critical acclaim followed. This French Canal+ production even got an International Emmy Award for best drama series, while Stephen King - the master of the genre - admitted to being a huge fan. Anne Consigny and Jean-Francois Sivadier, who were our guests for Focus on French Cinema 2013, play two of the main characters. The series is shown on the Sundance Channel on Thursdays at 9pm in the U.S. and can be found for sale on iTunes.
