Interviews with Our Guests
Natalie Dessay and Jean-Francois Sivadier
Natalie Dessay's views on her role in Becoming Traviata
"I don't try to understand the role , I try to embody it"[...]
Watch the Interview with Natalie Dessay Here.
We couldn't get enough of Natalie Dessay and her amazing availability, hindsight on the documentary Becoming Traviata and refreshing candor during the festival. Here we share with you our interview with Natalie, conducted by Lucy Yates who is an opera singer herself. The French star soprano talks about Violetta and Verdi, of course, but also about her approach. We also get a little behind the scenes information about her next production at the Metropolitan Opera: Giulio Cesare by Haendel where she plays Cleopatra! Giulio Cesare starts at the Metropolitan Opera next Thursday, on April 4th. Click here for details.
Jean-Francois Sivadier, Stage Director
[...] "To watch Natalie Dessay question herself, work tirelessly with an obsession and immense joy, that alone can change totally how one see the world of opera and strip away the clichés on divas, directors and the prestige of it all."
