This week at Rochester Rotary, we certainly had an elevation of our collective consciousness! Former Trader Joe's CEO Doug Rauch delivered a primer on conscious capitalism, thanks to a unique opportunity for our Rotary Club to dovetail on the day-long summit on conscious capitalism hosted in Rochester by Rotarian Andrew Brady. Thanks, Andrew, for making a valuable connection between Rotary and this respected leader in the conscious capitalism movement. He also gave us insights on hunger in our country-and right here in Rochester-telling us, "It's not the hunger that mankind faced for millennial. It's instead a full stomach, and what we need to do is get people a healthy meal." We are fortunate in our community to have so many organizations like Foodlink and others tackling this important issue. Doug really brought the message home from his global perspective.

Well, no doubt, Doug is working to do the right thing....and next week at Rochester Rotary you can also pay tribute to someone who does the right thing every day in the way they live their life and carry out their work. We will celebrate one of the Rochester Police Department's finest unsung heroes, as we host our annual Law Day Luncheon. We love this legacy, honoring one officer selected by his peers to be honored for his service to the community.

We do this, all because former Deputy Chief Henry H. Jensen had two main loves, Rochester Rotary Club and the Rochester Police Department. A recipient of the Club's Rotary Award, the oldest civic award in Rochester, he was an Honorary Member of Rochester Rotary from 1947 until his passing. For 17 years now, we have bestowed the Chief Henry H. Jensen Memorial Award to a deserving member of the RPD, thanks to a bequest to Rochester Rotary Charitable Trusts by Chief Jensen.

This is also a chance for Rochester Rotary to thank all of those in law enforcement who work so hard to make our community a safe place, each of them engaged in activity that elevates the quality of life we enjoy here.

Join us as keynote speaker Deputy Chief Wayne Harris discusses "Building Trust by Strengthening the Relationships Between the RPD and Rochester Neighborhoods," certainly a timely and relevant topic for Rotarians to consider.
