THANK YOU to the over 350 Rotarians and guests that attended the 90th Eastern Cities Fellowship Dinner this past Sunday. A special thank you to Don Alhart for emceeing the event and to our guest speaker Michael McGovern.

We had a timely update on the progress of Rotary in eradicating polio- and an inspirational challenge to complete this goal - from our keynote speaker - Rotary Trustee Michael McGovern, a past-vice president of Rotary International and current chair of the PolioPlus Committee.

Calling All Bell Ringers!
We are excited to continue our tradition this year of assisting in the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign. The Rochester Rotary Club has agreed to provide bell ringers for outdoor kettle entrances at Eastview Mall on Thursday, December 10th from 5:00-9:00 p.m.

Our volunteers will serve a 2-hour shift at each kettle.

 Shifts:
#1 -  4:45-6:45 p.m.
#2 - 6:45-8:45 p.m.

We would like to form teams of four to six per kettle per shift to allow for inside mall "warming breaks" as needed. Family members and friends are welcome to join us. This is a wonderful way to share in the spirit of the holiday season with your fellow Rotarians, family and friends!

Please email or call Brandi Koch at brandi@rochesterrotary.org or 546-7435 x210 to sign up for a shift by Thursday, December 3rd so that we can appropriately organize our teams.

We promise to do our best to fulfill your preferred shift request.
The Friendship Committee needs your help!
Do you know of any Rotarians who may be ill!

One of the functions of the Friendship Committee is to visit Rotarians who are confined to their home, the hospital, a rehab unit or nursing home due to a sustained illness. We have found that they really appreciate a visit. But we need your help. We can only make contact with those Rotarians who have been brought to our attention. So, if you hear about someone who should be seen, please don't assume we know.

Please contact Myrna at 546-7435 x201 to convey the information.

Thank You

What is going on in the District?

Seeking Global Scholarship Applicants

Rotary District 7120 with support from The Rotary Foundation offers the opportunity for a college graduate to apply for a $30,000 scholarship to be utilized for one or two years graduate study abroad. Study must be related to any one of six Areas of Focus for Rotary Foundation Global Grants. Studies must commence during the 2016-2017 academic year.

Visit Rotary International's web site www.Rotary.org for details regarding the six areas of focus. Interested scholars should then contact the District 7120 Global Grant Scholarship committee chair, Kenneth T. Steadman, at kts5@verizon.net to indicate they will be sending him an application. Use the District 7120 Global Scholar Application Form which can be downloaded from the Foundation page of Rotary District 7120's website: www.rotary7120.org.

Applications and associated documents are to be sent to Kenneth T. Steadman by February 1st, 2016. Interviews will be held March 6, 2016 in Geneva, NY for the accepted applications.

We wish to encourage college graduates in the Rotary 7120 area that are not Rotarians or lineal relatives of Rotarians to apply for this valuable opportunity.

Rotarians, please stimulate your friends to apply, contact local college and university placement offices, and announce this opportunity within your clubs.

Rotarians interested in serving on the selection committee should contact Ken Steadman or Jeff Krans (email jkrans228@gmail.com).

Rotary District 7120 Oratorical Contest

Recently your Assistant Governor reminded you to appoint a Chairperson to head up your Club's Oratorical Contest Committee. We need the name and email of that person so that we can help them move along on the goal of preparing students to be successful candidates for the Rotary District 7120 Contest on Ethics with the topic of "How I Plan to Live my Life Using the Rotary 4-Way Test". We will share fruitful ways to enlist students, tutor them on successful speech techniques and guide them towards writing a dynamic speech. Eleven area colleges are offering scholarships to successful students so why not have a student in your area win?

Please send us the contact information by October 28th so that we can get started.
