Carrying the Founders' Vision Forward:
Mission-driven growth and development at
St. John Fisher College

Join us Tuesday, August 18th at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center where our guest speaker will be Dr. Gerry Rooney, President of St. John Fisher College.

The founding of St. John Fisher College in 1948 was the result of the work of Bishop James E. Kearney, of the Catholic Diocese of Rochester, and the Congregation of St. Basil, who had taken over administration of the Aquinas Institute in 1937.  Kearney's belief in the transformative value of education and the Basilian Fathers' motto of "Teach me goodness, discipline, and knowledge" gave rise to a Catholic men's college that opened its doors to students in 1951.  Today, St. John Fisher College's mission continues to embrace the principles of its founders and guides the College's growth and development.

TUESDAY LUNCHEON HIGHLIGHTS

Great presentation Tuesday from our guest speaker Dr. Heidi Macpherson, President of State University of New York at Brockport - welcome to Rochester!
Thanks to Past President Ken Pink for bringing Dr. Macpherson to Rotary.

THANK YOU to fellow Rotarian Craig Brown for his generous donation to the Sunshine Campus in honor of the grand opening of the new Geico office on W. Henrietta Road.

What's happening at the Sunshine Campus?

This past weekend marked the 4th Annual Andrew Kittel Memorial Ride.  It was a great day filled with food, friends and a great band.  We had about 131 motorcycles on our campus.  It was a great sight to see.  Thank you to everyone who participated.  It was a great event! (Proceeds of this event benefit the Sunshine Campus.)

We also welcomed Camp Haccamo this week.  They are having a great time, they had a talent show and a carnival!  Next week we welcome their older campers.

Thank You!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for a beautiful evening at the Rochester Yacht Club to welcome Peter Sarratori as our new President.

We Need Your Help!

We are excited to have been chosen as the charity this year that will benefit from the Red Wings "Launch a Ball" promotion.  Folks who go to a Saturday game can buy a tennis ball before the game and throw them on the field after the game to try to win a prize.

The proceeds from this promotion will go to Sunshine Campus.  In addition to being talked about during the games, the camp will be featured in radio ads on Warm 101.3, 94.1 The Zone and 93.3 Fickle.

To make this succesful, we need you help.

We need eight volunteers for each Saturday night game this year, May 16th to August 29th.  All you have to do is sell tennis balls before the game, as a volunteer, you'll get to enjoy the game for free.

Plus, there will be fireworks after each game!

The following are dates that volunteers are needed:

August 29th

To sign up, contact Brandi at the Rotary office at 546-7435 x210 or brandi@rochesterrotary.org.

From the Rotary Accounting Office

Thank you to those of you who have let me know their preference for either email or mail delivery of statements. We are working on a better system of delivery, to be more efficient and to decrease our costs. This fall I hope to start emailing to those of you who have requested it. It is certainly no problem at all to use standard mail, I understand it is easier for many of you!

Several members use credit cards for payment, our provider, Authorize.Net, is changing the way it is sending your receipts. The "from" email address will no longer be the rotary email address, it will read noreply@mail.authorize.net. If you do reply to this however, the email will still come to me. Also, the subject line will read "Transaction Receipt from Rochester Rotary Charitable Trust for $____. "Thank you for your order" is also being removed from the receipts. I know that causes confusion!

If you have any concerns or questions, don't hesitate to contact me!

Pam Reinhardt, Accounting Manager
