A Message from President Pete

I want to keep you up on some of the great things that have happened this week for Rochester Rotary.
  • Thank you to Maggie Brooks, Zackary Laffin and Amanda Camilo for being my very first luncheon speakers. We were the first tour stop to hear about the findings of the monroe200 Report. For more information go to: monroe200 Report. Thank you to Don Alhart for reading "Beefurs Sunshine Treehouse" the children's book he authored.
  • Autism Ups iCan Bike Program. That was one of our Community Service Projects - this week I worked with Owen, as of today he is riding by himself!
  • ADA's Camp Aspire is wrapping up two great weeks at camp. Hannah Welker from Channel 13 was out on Thursday with our very own Kelly Mueller. Great exposure for Sunshine Campus and ADA. Well done Kelly!
  • I took the out of town counselors from iCan Bike program for a tour of camp. They were stunned by everything they saw.
  • The first three episodes of The Treehouse Guys on the DIY network aired. All I can say is fantastic. We will keep you posted on our episode when information is available.
  • Thank you to the Irondequoit Rotary Club for inviting us to present on the Sunshine Campus to their members. Fun meeting and great hospitality. It may cost me though....see Peter Kelderhouse for details.
  • On another tour of camp I saw a few surprises in the Sensory Stimulation Building we are dedicating next week at the Carnival on the 22nd it is looking absolutely amazing. Please bring your friends and family for this important event, this new addition will be changing lives soon.

Have you figured out how you will be "A Gift to the World?"

Owen and President Pete

New Club Logo
RI recently refreshed its logo with a simpler, more modern version of the wheel. And in what may be a first, individual clubs are being given the opportunity to customize it with their own.

It allows us the opportunity to become better aligned with and more closely tied to Rotary International. This new logo is replacing the Club logo that we've used for more than a decade.

We Need Your Help!

We are excited to have been chosen as the charity this year that will benefit from the Red Wings "Launch a Ball" promotion.  Folks who go to a Saturday game can buy a tennis ball before the game and throw them on the field after the game to try to win a prize.

The proceeds from this promotion will go to Sunshine Campus.  In addition to being talked about during the games, the camp will be featured in radio ads on Warm 101.3, 94.1 The Zone and 93.3 Fickle.

To make this succesful, we need you help.

We need eight volunteers for each Saturday night game this year, May 16th to August 29th.  All you have to do is sell tennis balls before the game, as a volunteer, you'll get to enjoy the game for free.

Plus, there will be fireworks after each game!

The following are dates that volunteers are needed:

August 1st

August 15

August 29th

To sign up, contact Brandi at the Rotary office at 546-7435 x210 or [email protected].

Celebrate the 1980 USA Miracle on ICE

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the "Miracle on Ice" and to commemorate the accomplishment , the Rochester Red Wings will hold a Miracle on Ice night on the same night as our Rotary Red Wings Night. This gives us all some added excitement for the game.

Rochester will wear team USA's home white jerseys while Syracuse will don the away blue sweaters from 1980. Fans can bid on the jerseys, which will be signed by all the Olympians in attendance, during the game with the proceeds benefiting the Red Wings Community Foundation. The umpires will also wear hockey referee jerseys during the game.

The District Literacy Committee is designed to aid and promote reading amongst the youth of our community. The District Literacy Committee improves education, and is an essential component of poverty reduction and economic development.

Please bring a new or gently used children's book to be distributed to schools within District 7120. These books can be dropped off at the 50/50 table located in the main breezeway.
