Rochester Rotary is heading to the ball field!

We are taking our luncheon over to Frontier Field for lunch starting at 12:30 p.m. at the Nest and the Red Wings 1:35 p.m. ball game Wednesday, May 13th.  (This will replace our Tuesday Luncheon this week.)

Reservations were needed for the game as we prepulled tickets.

Tuesday's lunch was absolutely fantastic the 15^th Henry H. Jensen Award recipient, Investigator Melissa Frasca was just a delight. What an honor for this 17 year veteran to be nominated by her peers for this very prestigious award.

We started our luncheon with a nice tribute to Sheriff Andrew Meloni with a video collage of his years of service followed by a beautiful invocation from past award recipient Pastor Bill Finnerty. Over 220 people were in attendance to support Melissa including Rotarians, community leaders and many of her fellow Officers.  

The remarks from Deputy Mayor Leonard Redon and County Executive Maggie Brooks were spot on in terms of Officers and public servants being "unsung" heroes of our community and, like our own Rotary motto, every day they are putting "Service Above Self" to keep our community safe.

Melissa was so taken with being nominated that it made the lunch all the more special with her humble and thankful remarks.

Thank you to Don Alhart for sharing reflections on Henry Jensen and his commitment to RPD, his family and Rotary.  Henry asked that this award be given each year to an "Unsung Hero" of the Department so this year Don put together a great presentation to show us what some of these unsung heroes do every day to support our community and make it just that much better. Thank you to WROC TV 8 and WHAM 13 for providing us some great footage to use for this honor.

Thank you again to those who came out and supported our Police Department for the luncheon - this year was one of our best attended Law Day luncheons!

We are excited to have been chosen as the charity this year that will benefit from the Red Wings "Launch a Ball" promotion.  Folks who go to a Saturday game can buy a tennis ball before the game and throw them on the field after the game to try to win a prize.

The proceeds from this promotion will go to Sunshine Campus.  In addition to being talked about during the games, the camp will be featured in radio ads on Warm 101.3, 94.1 The Zone and 93.3 Fickle.

To make this succesful, we need you help. 

We need eight volunteers for each Saturday night game this year, May 16th to August 29th.  All you have to do is sell tennis balls before the game, as a volunteer, you'll get to enjoy the game for free.

Plus, there will be fireworks after each game!
