 american-flag-wavy.jpg

Please rsvp guests through the Rotary Office.

President Tracy's Journal

Tuesday was a very busy day - above and beyond Election Day, I hope you all had a chance to get out and VOTE!

We began our monthly Breakfast Meetings at the Rotary Office where we hosted over 20 Rotarians. Rotarian Sitima Fowler, Co-CEO of Capstone Information Technologies, Inc., gave an incredibly informative presentation about cyber theft, what you should look out for and security precautions you can take to protect your business - and ourselves personally. Thank you Sitima. If you would be interested in making a presentation at one of our Breakfast Meetings please contact Tracey Dreisbach in the Rotary Office for details.

Then we were on to our luncheon meeting at Locust Hill Country Club!

We were joined by guest speaker George Romell, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Rochester. George gave a very comprehensive discussion on future plans at several local YMCA branches. The YMCA has partnered with UR Medicine and Wegmans on some of these new initiatives.

CONGRATULATIONS to Ray Isaac, Ray is our newest Paul Harris Fellow. He joins recent recipients Carol, Tony and Jason Floreano and Rev. Susan Schafer as our newest Paul Harris Fellows. Carol, Tony, Jason and Susan were presented theirs in memory of Past President Joe Floreano at the Eastern Cities Fellowship Dinner last week. The Dinner was a beautiful event and from the bottom of my heart would like to thank Don & Mary Alhart, Bob Enright and all of the committee members and volunteers for making it so very special. I had many compliments afterwards as to how smooth the evening ran, the entertainment and how inspiring it was. What a great opportunity to hear from RI Foundation Chair John Kenny about the great works Rotary is doing around the world through the Foundation.

I look forward to seeing you all next week back at Locust Hill Country Club as we honor our Veterans with our annual luncheon.

Calling All Bell Ringers!

We are excited to continue our tradition this year of assisting in the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign.  The Rochester Rotary Club has agreed to provide bell ringers for outdoor kettle entrance's at Eastview Mall on Wednesday, December 3rd from 5:00-9:00 p.m.

Our volunteers will serve a 2-hour shift at each kettle.

 Shifts:

#1 -  4:45-6:45 p.m.

#2 - 6:45-8:45 p.m.

We would like to form teams of four or six per kettle per shift to allow for inside mall "warming breaks" as needed.  Family members and friends are welcome to join us.  This is a wonderful way to share in the spirit of the holiday season with your fellow Rotarians, family and friends!

Please email or call Brandi Koch at brandi@rochesterrotary.org or 546-7435 x210 to sign up for a shift by Wednesday, November 26th so that we can appropriately organize our teams.

We promise to do our best to fulfill your preferred shift request.
GobbleFest

Partner with Your Membership Committee for This Year's
"PLUS ONE" Campaign!

The Membership Committee's mission is to grow and sustain the Rochester Rotary Membership. We accomplish this by identifying and recruiting a diverse group of qualified new members and support their initial involvement in the Club.

Each year our Club has a goal to bring in 35 new and dynamic members. At present we have 339 members of our club. Under the leadership of Mary Lewis Consler the committee engaged in a strategic planning process that will help the committee be even more proactive. The strategic plan has a number of sub committees that are listed below:

Under Represented - we have a number of member categories that could use increases.   A good example is military.

Marketing Collaboration - working with our marketing committee this sub group will assist with additional materials that will help with recruitment.

Corporate Membership - this has been a goal for a long time and we will be working directly with each of the larger corporations in this region on corporate memberships. Each new person must pass our membership criteria.

Small Business - this is a specific effort to attract new members that are business owners.

Internal Communications - this effort will see the Membership Committee reaching directly out to other members of our club for  referrals.

You will hear more about these initiatives over the course of the new-year. The Membership Committee is excited about the formation of the Engagement Committee lead by Steve Hoitt.

To recommend a new member please contact Scott Rasmussen at 273-5932.
