Stopping by the PGA this week? | If you're stopping by the PGA this week make sure to stop by and grab lunch at our concession tent between hole 1 and 13 to support the Sunshine Campus. |
|
What's Happening at the Sunshine Campus |
Camp Haccamo is underway. They are having a great week. This week they will be enjoying a carnival and a talent show. To the right are some campers having fun at the splash pad. |
Steve Tasker, CBS football commentator
and former Buffalo Bills player |
Our next luncheon meeting will be held next Tuesday, August 13th at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. CBS football commentator and former Buffalo Bills player Steve Tasker will be our guest speaker.
Steve Tasker is currently working as an NFL Color Analyst and sideline reporter for the CBS Television Network. His other jobs include working as a Monday Night Football sideline analyst for Dial Global Radio Network and community liaison for the Buffalo Bills. In addition, Steve is an active public speaker, giving inspirational and encouraging speeches all across the country. Together with his family, Steve is connected with several charity organizations. He is truly committed to helping children, which is shown through his involvement with youth football, school reading programs and the Children's Guild Foundation. Throughout his career Steve has been inducted into numerous Hall of Fames, received several awards and honors and also selected to be a member of the NFL's All-Time Team.
We are anticipating for this to be a larger luncheon than usual. If you plan to attend please RSVP to Heather Rossi in the Rotary Office at 546-7435 x204 or hrossi@rochesterrotary.org. Tables are still available (tables seat 10 people). |

President Bob's Journal | |
This is PGA week. If you are attending the PGA Championship, you can support the Rochester Rotary Sunshine Campus by purchasing your food and beverages at our concession stand. It is located in an area behind the 1st green, near the 11th tee, and along the 13th fairway. The size of the donation which we will receive is directly related to the sales at our stand. So, frequenting our concession stand is another way you can help this week.
Our volunteers are doing a fantastic job operating our stand. The PGA and Levy Premium Foodservice are thrilled with us. Once again, Rotarians are getting the job done. I worked the afternoon shift on Monday, and had so much fun. It is a great experience to volunteer at the PGA Championship. Crowds are huge for practice rounds - much larger than ever before, which is wonderful for the PGA, for Rochester, and for sales. Rotarians are doing a superb job letting customers know that by purchasing food and beverages at our tent, they are supporting the Rochester Rotary Sunshine Campus. Numerous customers are making individual donations, which go directly to the Sunshine Campus. These separate donations are on a pace to send a couple of kids to camp for a whole week next summer.
Volunteering at the PGA also has proved to be a wonderful opportunity to introduce more of our friends to the amazing experience we provide to kids with special needs at Sunshine Camp. We are grateful for the volunteer support we are receiving from Rotarians of the suburban clubs. They have jumped in to help support the Sunshine Campus, which now hosts Camp Haccamo three weeks each August.
I hope to see all of you at the PGA Championship this weekend.

| Partner with Your Membership Committee for This Year's "PLUS ONE" Campaign! |

Rochester Rotarians are the best source of qualified new members--bringing their business colleagues and friends into the club each year. This past year we saw more than 35 new members join Rochester Rotary!
We need your help to achieve our goal for this year. Do you have a business associate or a friend who might benefit from Rochester Rotary through excellent speakers on a variety of topics at the Tuesday Noon Lunch Meeting, business networking meeting with other business leaders or service opportunities such as those at School # 8 and the Sunshine Campus?
Your Membership Committee is undertaking a special campaign for new members-PLUS ONE! We are asking each member to identify and engage one new member! Bring your potential new member to a luncheon or to an upcoming event. Membership Co-Chairs Mary Lewis Consler and Scott Rasmussen are happy to assist you, as are all Membership Committee members.
The proposal process is easy:
- Simply complete a short Membership Proposal Card, which can be found on the Rochester Rotary website under "Club Committees," and submit the card to the Rotary office.
- A Membership Committee member will meet with your candidate to discuss Rochester Rotary and to learn more about the candidate.
- The Membership Committee member will share information with the committee and make a recommendation for Board approval.
Currently Rochester Rotary is looking for new members in these areas:
- Advertising & Public Relations
- Architecture & Engineering
- Business Owners
- Clergy, Religious
- Commercial Sales
- Computers, Data Processing
- Corporate Executives
- Entertainment & Sports
- Hotel/Travel
- Human Resources
- Military
- Technology
- Transportation
- Utilities
"PLUS ONE"! That's the Membership Committee's and Rochester Rotary's mission this year! With one new member referral you can make a real difference! |
