What's Happening at the Sunshine Campus | First week of the Sunshine Camp is going great! It may be hot but our campers are having an awesome time! This week we had our carnival and unveiling of our new logo. It was a successful night shared with Campers, Staff, Rotarians, Friends and Family. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our Camp, it truly is an amazing place. Next week we are looking forward to Peter's Pal Putt Putt. Are you signed up? We are still looking for volunteers. We will have an ice cream social after the tournament. Many Rotarians and guest were interested in our Sunshine Camp t-shirts. If you are interested in purchasing a t-shirt, below you will find a link for an order form. Sunshine Camp T-shirt Order Form |

AC34 Cupdate Tom Ehman, Vice Commodore of Golden Gate Yacht Club
Our next luncheon meeting will be held next Tuesday, July 23rd at the Rochester Yacht Club. We will enjoy lunch and a
video chat presentation from Tom Ehman, Vice Commodore of GGYC about the AC34 Cupdate.
Tom Ehman is an impeccable international yachting veteran. He has influenced changes that have successfully transformed what once was top-level sailing into a more modern, media-friendly sport. Ehman became the youngest Exective Director of the USA's national sailing association at the age of 25. He has served in several different roles, but is currently serving as GGYC's Vice Commodore and Managing Director of the GGYC America's Cup Committee, Executive Director of America's Cup Properties, Inc. and Director of External Affairs for the 34th America's Cup.
Thank you to fellow Rochester Rotarian, Hank Stuart we will also be set to go out for an afternoon of sailing after the luncheon for anyone who would like to stay.
Please RSVP at hrossi@rochesterrotary.org if you plan to attend this luncheon and also if you plan to sail with us in the afternoon. |

President Bob's Journal
A big thank you to all who contributed to the huge success of our Camp Carnival. The kids had a blast! Carnival is the highlight of the summer camping experience that we Rotarians provide to more than 2,000 children and young adults with physical disabilities each and every year. On such a hot night, the splash pad and snow cone machine were extremely popular, as were the various bounce houses and inflatable slides, carnival games and train rides. There always was a long line at the dunk tank, and not just to dunk the new club president, but the kids also loved dunking their camp counselors. Special thanks to Brandi Koch, Heather Rossi and Myrna Padilla, along with our numerous camp staff and counselors, and to all Rochester Rotarians who attended and volunteered at Camp Carnival.
Carnival this year also was special, because it was the evening when we unveiled our new logo. It's a huge improvement over the old logo. The new tag line - where kids have no barriers to fun - beautifully describes the purpose of our camp. The new colors radiate sunshine and happiness. Congratulations and excellent job to all who contributed to the development of our new logo. A special thank you to Julie St. Germaine and Signs Now for the beautifully carved and painted new sign for the entrance to our beloved Sunshine Campus.

What is going on in the district?
Welcome to the New Rotary Year. It will be a great year for our District filled with many great to keep everyone fired up about ROTARY. One of the Annual Distict Events that you don't want to miss is the Rotary Day at the Rochester Red Wings. This year's event will be on August 3rd at Frontier Field and will be against the Syracuse Chiefs from our neighboring Rotary Distrct 7150. To add a little spice to the game there has been a friendly challenge made between the two District Governors. If the Rochester Red Wings win then the District 7150 Governor Dennis Schonewetter has to make a donation of $ 1 for every Rotarian ticket sold to the Rotary Foundation. If however by some miracle Syracuse wins the game then our District Governor Ellen Hughes has to make the donation. An added attraction is we get to see DG Ellen throw out the first pitch, I hear she is practicing.
One dollar of every ticket sold goes to suuport the District Literacy Committee and its projects. The District Literacy Committee's mission is to be a source of ideas and inspiration, as well as a resource for materials designed to help clubs address literacy needs in their communities. Please bring a new or gently used children's book to be distributed to schools within District 7120. These books can be dropped off at the 50/50 table located in the main breezeway.
Come early and share a delicious picnic, or just come to the game, support the Wings and help our cause.
The club that sells the most tickets can provide the
HONORARY RED WINGS BAT-KID FOR THE GAME!!!
Gates open and picnic begins at 6:00pm (Picnic will go on rain or shine!)
This your chance to come out and have a great time with Rotarians from across the District, and help both the Rotary Foundation and Literact all at the same time.
Hope to see you there!!!!
