President Bob's Journal
I am deeply humbled and honored to take the leadership baton from President John, and to serve you as President of this great Club for the next year. Thank you, John, for your exceptional leadership over the past year, and for spending so much time preparing me for the responsibilities that are now mine. Thank you to all who attended the Inaugural Meeting, and for the many messages of support and encouragement I have received.
I look forward to serving with the members of the Club's Board of Directors, and the Chairs of our numerous committees. Brochures with their names, pictures and positions were located on all the luncheon tables; they also can be found on our Club's website by selecting the links for the Board and the committees. Congratulations to the Board members on their elections, and thank you to the Chairs for accepting the call to lead their respective committees.
The Tuesday luncheon meetings will be shorter this year. I will ring the bell to start each meeting at 12:20, and again to end each meeting at 1:10. I hope this change makes it easier for Rotarians to attend the weekly luncheon meetings. It necessitates streamlining the meetings, and will result in greater emphasis on fellowship and the keynote speakers and their presentations.
Beginning October 1, the Club will add a breakfast meeting to be held on the first Tuesday of each month. Breakfast meetings will not replace luncheons. On those Tuesdays, the Club will hold two meetings, and Rotarians can attend either one. All of these changes are aimed at increasing opportunities for Rotarians to come together weekly.
I would like to ask you each to mark the weekly Tuesday luncheons, and the monthly breakfast meetings, in your calendar. This will avoid scheduling conflicts, while leaving you free to decide each week whether to attend.
I also urge you to attend Camp Carnival on Wednesday, July 17, which begins at 5:30 with a cook out dinner. Our new camp logo will be unveiled at 6:15, followed by carnival games and activities. And, yes, you heard me correctly at the Inaugural Meeting - I will be in the dunk tank. So, this is your one and only opportunity this year to dunk the new president. Carnival is the highlight of the camping experience for our kids. There is no better time to come to camp and see the difference you make in the lives of 2,500 children each year.
I love this club, all that we do, and I have the utmost respect and admiration for its members. All of us joined Rochester Rotary to get involved and make a difference in our community. The future is not a gift - it is an achievement. I am excited for what we will achieve together. |

Fundraiser for Sunshine Camp
Hello All,
I wanted you to know that my friends at Sprinkles Ice Cream in Chili have once again decided to hold a ONE DAY fundraiser for Rotary Sunshine Camp.
DATE: Saturday July 13th
TIME: Noon to 10 pm
So if you're out and about anytime next Saturday, stop in for some REALLY GOOD ice cream, and help support a great camp.
I've also attached a flyer for next month's event. It's being held right at Rotary Sunshine Camp in Rush, NY. It starts out as a motorcycle ride and we end up at the camp for some great fellowship, awesome gospel blues music featuring Light Blue Gospel Blues Band, and a terrific pulled pork dinner.
If you don't ride and would just like to meet at the camp for everything else, we would love to have you there. If you arrive at the camp at about noon, you should see the bikes come in shortly after that.
And bring the kids. Miniature golf and a train ride around the camp are great fun.
So, hope to see you next Saturday and next month.
God bless,
Paul Kittel

School 8 sends thanks to Mr. Bob
I would like to give a pat on the back to Rochester Rotarian "Mr. Bob" Williams, volunteer at Roberto Clemente School 8 for 16 straight years. He has consistently been here at least three times a week. He is a Reading Commando (tutor) and college scholarship mentor. He also sets up Career Day and organizes Junior Achievment; comes to Project Bundle-up to get warm coats and scarves and mittens at local stores with the children; comes to our open houses, scout and school dinners; brings thousands of discarded books so our kids can bring home to read; and takes students to ball games and RPO concerts.
He has been there to eat lunch with students and listen to them and give hugs. Mr. Bob does it all for the love of the children. We love you too, Mr. Bob! You are one in a million! Thank you for your dedication to School 8 and making our lives better.

What is going on in the district?
Welcome to the New Rotary Year. It will be a great year for our District filled with many great to keep everyone fired up about ROTARY. One of the Annual Distict Events that you don't want to miss is the Rotary Day at the Rochester Red Wings. This year's event will be on August 3rd at Frontier Field and will be against the Syracuse Chiefs from our neighboring Rotary Distrct 7150. To add a little spice to the game there has been a friendly challenge made between the two District Governors. If the Rochester Red Wings win then the District 7150 Governor Dennis Schonewetter has to make a donation of $ 1 for every Rotarian ticket sold to the Rotary Foundation. If however by some miracle Syracuse wins the game then our District Governor Ellen Hughes has to make the donation. An added attraction is we get to see DG Ellen throw out the first pitch, I hear she is practicing.
One dollar of every ticket sold goes to suuport the District Literacy Committee and its projects. The District Literacy Committee's mission is to be a source of ideas and inspiration, as well as a resource for materials designed to help clubs address literacy needs in their communities. Please bring a new or gently used children's book to be distributed to schools within District 7120. These books can be dropped off at the 50/50 table located in the main breezeway.
Come early and share a delicious picnic, or just come to the game, support the Wings and help our cause.
The club that sells the most tickets can provide the
HONORARY RED WINGS BAT-KID FOR THE GAME!!!
Gates open and picnic begins at 6:00pm (Picnic will go on rain or shine!)
This your chance to come out and have a great time with Rotarians from across the District, and help both the Rotary Foundation and Literact all at the same time.
Hope to see you there!!!!
