What's Happening at the Sunshine Campus

The next 2 weeks we welcome the American Diabetes Association.  The campers will engage in fun activities while connecting with other kids and adults living with diabetes.   A little rain will not stop us from having fun.  While some campers are swimming in the rain the campers to the right are heading to the dining hall for an indoor movie! Next week we will feature our newest additions to the nature center...... our new Goats!

President Bob's Inaugural Meeting

Join us next Tuesday, July 9th at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center for President Bob Attardo's Inaugural luncheon meeting. Our guest speaker will be City of Rochester Mayor Tom Richards.

Mayor Thomas S. Richards was sworn in as Mayor on April 11, 2011 after a special election decided who would succeed former Mayor Robert J. Duffy, who became Lieutenant Governor. Richards stepped into the Mayor's office after serving more than four years as Corporation Counsel and two months as Deputy Mayor.  In his previous roles, Mayor Richards oversaw the sale of the fast ferry and the termination of costly long-term leases for the Port Terminal building and with the Toronto Port Authority. The Mayor is also overseeing the ongoing conversion of Midtown Plaza from a nearly vacant downtown mall to an 8.6-acre shovel-ready development site in the heart of the city. Under Mayor Richards' leadership, the project remains on time and on budget.

If you plan to bring a guest to the luncheon please be sure to pre-register them with the Rotary Office at 546-7435

Welcome Morgan Hamman

Please welcome our new Accounting Manager Morgan Hamman.

We are excited to welcome her to our team here in the Rotary Office!  As most of you know, Jill Martin has been working with us as a consultant through Insero during our transition period and she will continue with us in an advisory role.

 Below is an introduction from

 Morgan.

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Business Management/Marketing from Saint John Fisher College.  My first professional position was as a Staff Accountant at Pace Electronics in Sodus, NY.  I have always been passionate about giving back to the community so I knew that I needed to make the transition from the corporate environment to the nonprofit world.  Before joining the Rotary team, I worked as an Associate Manager of Operations and Communications at the American Diabetes Association.  I am excited to have the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing organization and look forward to meeting all of the members.

Peter's Pals Putt Putt

We are excited for the 4th annual Peter's Pals Putt Putt tournament at the Sunshine Campus being held Wednesday, July 24th!

Rotarians, family and friends are welcome to join us and cheer on our Campers and their Rotarian teammates through 9 holes of Putt Putt.

If you are interested in golfing with our campers (9 holes of Putt Putt) please contact Heather Rossi at hrossi@rochesterrotary.org   or 546-7435 x204.

What is going on in the district?

Welcome to the New Rotary Year. It will be a great year for our District filled with many great to keep everyone fired up about ROTARY. One of the Annual Distict Events that you don't want to miss is the Rotary Day at the Rochester Red Wings. This year's event will be on August 3rd at Frontier Field and will be against the Syracuse Chiefs from our neighboring Rotary Distrct 7150. To add a little spice to the game there has been a friendly challenge made between the two District Governors. If the Rochester Red Wings win then the District 7150 Governor Dennis Schonewetter has to make a donation of $ 1 for every Rotarian ticket sold to the Rotary Foundation. If however by some miracle Syracuse wins the game then our District Governor Ellen Hughes has to make the donation. An added attraction is we get to see DG Ellen throw out the first pitch, I hear she is practicing.

One dollar of every ticket sold goes to suuport the District Literacy Committee and its projects. The District Literacy Committee's mission is to be a source of ideas and inspiration, as well as a resource for materials designed to help clubs address literacy needs in their communities. Please bring a new or gently used children's book to be distributed to schools within District 7120. These books can be dropped off at the 50/50 table located in the main breezeway.

Come early and share a delicious picnic, or just come to the game, support the Wings and help our cause.

The club that sells the most tickets can provide the

HONORARY RED WINGS BAT-KID FOR THE GAME!!!

Gates open and picnic begins at 6:00pm (Picnic will go on rain or shine!)

This your chance to come out and have a great time with Rotarians from across the District, and help both the Rotary Foundation and Literact all at the same time.

Hope to see you there!!!!
