"What's Happening at the Sunshine Campus"
Last week we welcomed 6 city school districts for our Reach for the Stars Program. They were Schools 15, 1, 8, 29, 9 & 25. We also hosted the reading commando's from School 8.
The students got to enjoy the great program areas such as the climbing wall all while learning about pulleys and how they work. They also enjoyed swimming, pond, and nature.
This week we welcome Camp Joy. Camp Joy is an adult week sponsored by ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America). The campers come from all over NY State. They have been enjoying their week. They have a large Stamping Program done in our Nature Center which has been a hit all week.
Speaking of our Nature Program let me introduce you to our newest addition; 3 Alpacas, Rasta, Blitz and Titan.

Will you join us for President John's last meeting?
We hope you will join us for President John's Last Meeting as Club President, Tuesday June 25th at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.
Prior to President John's meeting we are very excited to officially be unveiling the beautiful granite plaque that accompanies our beloved Rochester Rotary Centennial Clock so please feel welcome to join us for that at 11:15am.
Lastly, President John has asked that the "Bow Tie Brigade" reassemble! He would like to end his year by asking that everyone make an attempt to wear a bowtie to his last meeting. Men, Women, Young and Old - everyone who can scrape up a bowtie is encouraged to join the honorable "Bow Tie Brigade".
We do expect this to be a larger than normal luncheon so, if you plan to attend next Tuesday please RSVP to the Rotary Office if you haven't already. |

President John's Journal
As you may well have guessed, the past two weeks have been a time of mixed emotions for me. On one hand, I have a sense of fulfillment that over the past year I have worked hard and done my best to uphold the honor and the integrity of being your club president. Having inherited the leadership of the club in such wonderful shape from Past President Linda O'Neil, I was a bit intimidated as to what I could do to sustain our track record of continuous improvement. I am now proud, however, that just a One Degree difference in our course at the start of the year has produced respectable results at the finish line. I also have tremendous confidence that our future is in good hands with Bob Attardo at the helm. I have made it a point to work closely with Bob throughout the year and I can tell you that he is eager and ready to make his mark with changes that will significantly enhance member engagement. Bring it on Bob!
On the other hand, I am saddened by the fact that I will no longer have the honor and privilege of serving you in this role. And it's not about me being president, rather it's about each of you being who you are, and the unbounded pride I have enjoyed in being your representative. I have loved my job, I have loved every minute of the work . . . I shall miss it deeply.

This past Monday evening Sandy and I were invited to join the Past President's Dinner at Woodcliff. Past President Linda planned and coordinated the affair and it was first class and elegant from start to finish. It was such an honor to be included in this august group of leaders and dedicated Rotarians. I thought it was wonderful to be in the company of the Past Presidents and became acutely aware of the outstanding succession of leadership that the Rochester Rotary Club has been blessed with over the years. The evening was humbling, exciting, and a good time was shared by all. Thanks Linda! And thanks to all the Past Presidents for inviting me into your group.
=============
I've been trying to find a way to honor the work, commitment, and support I have enjoyed from the Board of Directors during my term. We have both worked hard and played hard together, all with the focus of making a positive difference in our club. And so, with respect, admiration, and thanks for the gift of your leadership, I pledge my continuing and unwavering support for all that you have done and all that is yet to come.

Judge Johnny's Fines and Recognition Report:
I ask you, WHO would stoop so low as to fine one of our most loyal members during the lovely reception and cocktail party described above? Who, I ask again, would fine someone for being the recipient of a tribute to their military service? ME! Yes, I took the low road and levied the fine as described below.
- As many of you noticed, there was a wonderful picture of Delphine Wise on the front page of the local section this week. She and her husband, John Wise, Rochester Rotarian since 1991, were arriving home from their Honor Flight trip to the WWII Memorial and the D&C photographer snapped the beautiful and perfect picture of Delphine. She was proudly wending her way through the welcoming throng of well-wishers and greeters at the airport. A proud and honored moment to be sure. However, the look on Delphine's face was interpreted by myself and others as "OMG, John forgot to wear his Rotary Pin!" Thus the fine. By the way, did you know that Delphine outranked John when they were in the Navy? Still does I'm told.

Farewell from Capt. Randy Orr
Marci and I received news that we are being transferred to NYC in late June. I am grateful for this opportunity to say farewell as timing is such I will not be in attendance at any more meetings. Marci and I immensely enjoyed our short time here in Rochester and had hoped we would be here for several more years. We, however, believe God's hand is in the midst of moves announced by our territorial office. We have been warmly welcomed by the entire community in such a way that our memories of Rochester will stand out as being truly outstanding. On behalf of those The Salvation Army is privileged to serve, I also say thanks to Rotary for so enthusiastically participating in the Red Kettle Campaign. Lastly, I am sure you will welcome the incoming officers, Majors Doug & Judy Hart, the same way you have welcomed us. |

What going on in the district?
Subject: Rotary Flash Mob To End Polio Now!
Hello District Rotarians,
Hello friends!
We had a fantastic District Conference with a great Flash Mob and now I'm asking for your help in promoting it so that we can reach the 1 million (plus) hits that we are looking for.
Here is the official version, which features PRIP Ray Klinginsmith.
We are using this video to promote Rotary and our PolioPlus program and asking people to watch the video, email the link to their friends, like and share it on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media sites.
A long 2 1/2 years from dream to dance and only 2 1/2 minutes for the dance itself!
