President John's Journal

This year's Rotary Award luncheon stands out as a highlight of my year as President. When Rochester Rotary and its generous members are called upon to plan an event that requires high impact and grand elegance, our highest expectations are exceeded every time!

I have received several complimentary emails similar to this one, and you should all bask in the glow of these compliments.

"What a great program honoring Bob Witmer and an award so well deserved by him! The staging, the food, speakers, remarks, video....everything.....so beautiful! I was happy to be able to attend!"

It truly was a great great day for Rochester Rotary and for The City of Rochester and The County of Monroe. Bob Witmer has given so much to so many for so long that the quality of life for all us has been touched and improved by his generosity. Dan Meyers did an outstanding job as Chair of the Rotary Award Committee and to all who served in the selection process, Thank You! And once again . . . Congratulations Bob!

Special thanks to these gentlemen who always insure that everything Rochester Rotary does is First Class: Chip Lacure from CMI Communications; Videographer Kurt Mueller from Moment Driven Productions; Joe Floreano from the Convention Center; and Photographer Ken Pamatat from Creative Images. "Nobody does it better".

Capital Fund Drive Update. The Forever Sunshine Campaign has moved into Phase 3, the appeal to Foundations, Corporate and Industry Supporters, and Significant Individual Donors. This phase of the campaign was initiated on May 8th with a cocktail reception at the Riverside Convention Center specifically for the Construction and Building Trades professionals. The event was hosted by Rotarians Gene Caccamise, Joe Leone, Aaron Hilger, and Past President Ken Pink. More than $20,000 was raised at the event with "more on the way". It was a wonderful evening being with these folks who contribute so much to our Campus with advice, labor, materials, and money. They are out at camp almost every week transforming their gifts into phenomenal experiences and brighter futures for our campers.

Judge Johnny's Fines and Recognition Report:

It has now been two weeks with special luncheon programs and no ability for me to fine or recognize anyone. I am going through withdrawal and Hank Ralston has reported that he is bored to death! So, I have decided to issue BENCH WARRANTS to the following members that I am ready to "recognize" at this Tuesday's meeting, May 21st.

Nancy O'Brien - Promotion to Sr. Vice President

The session is both social and informative. Strap up your boots and save the date, we will save you a seat!

Hello District Rotarians,

As we come to the end of another Rotary year I hope that you will consider joining Gov. Gaven and Gov. Elect Ellen for the District Change Over Dinner. It is being held on July 1st at the beautiful Ventosa Vineyards restaurant in Geneva. There will be a cash bar and Rotary fellowship starting at 5:30 PM and the dinner and program will start at 6:30 PM. This is your opportunity to join many throughout the District in thanking Gov. Gaven for his "interesting" year as our Governor and to welcome Gov. Elect Ellen as she begins her year as our leader.
