Wall Street praises Huntsville's economy, money management
on March 23, 2015
Huntsville on Monday earned Standard & Poor's best-possible AAA credit rating for the seventh consecutive year.
The announcement comes less than a week after the other major Wall Street rating agency, Moody's Investors Service, also awarded Huntsville its top Aaa score.
"When both Wall Street credit agencies continue to reward us with the highest rating achievable, our team is doing something right," said Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle. "As a city, we have worked hard to maintain conservative fiscal policies, diversify our economic base and strengthen our infrastructure.

Birmingham's Brasfield & Gorrie named third best healthcare contractor nationwide
on March 24, 2015
Birmingham construction firm Brasfield & Gorrie was named the third among healthcare general contractors in the country by Modern Healthcare magazine.
The ranking was based on 2014 revenues. The company had $1.38 billion in revenues for completed healthcare construction projects, which is up 36 percent from the previous year.
Brasfield & Gorrie built more than 4.1 million square feet of healthcare projects. The healthcare sector is 41 percent of the company's work.

AT&T Invests More Than $1.3 Billion Over Three-Year Period To Enhance Local Networks In Alabama
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., March 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T* has invested more than $1.3 billion in its best-in-class wireless and wired networks in Alabama between 2012 and 2014, driving a wide range of upgrades to reliability, coverage, speed and performance for residents and business customers.
As part of its Project Velocity IP (VIP), an investment plan focused on network enhancement and expansion, AT&T in 2014 made 429 wireless network upgrades in Alabama including new cell sites, addition of network capacity, and new wireless high-speed Internet connections.
