 EVENTS

Dear  ,

Welcome!

Summer is here and with it the summer holidays.  Vacation time is often quiet time and could be a good period to relax and catch up on your reading.

Nevertheless, autumn is just around the corner and it brings a lot of very interesting events that you might want to save the dates for.

The first date I want to talk about is the 11th to the 13th of November.  This is when electronica in Munich will be celebrating its 50th anniversary.  This year Luger Research e.U., publisher of LED professional, is the exclusive, premium media partner in the lighting area of the electronica.  As part of our activities, we will be offering a half-day lighting forum on November 12th.

The second date you should note is September 30th to October 2nd.  This is when the 4th LED professional Symposium +Expo in Bregenz will take place.  It's the place to be for anyone focusing on the design and engineering of future LED lighting systems.  With over 60 lectures, an expected 100 exhibitors and 1,300 visitors, this event offers an ideal platform for discussing lighting insights and preparing for the International Year of Light 2015 (see www.LpS2014.com).

The entire LED professional team is looking forward to meeting you at one or both of these events. But for now, relax and enjoy the summer!

I wish you all the best,

Siegfried Luger
CEO, Luger Research e.U.

PS: Below, among other things, you can find the technology and business news from the past two weeks.

Novel Nanoparticle Production Method Could Lead to Better LED Lights, Lenses and Solar Cells

Sandia National Laboratories researchers Dale Huber, left, and Todd Monson have come up with an inexpensive way to synthesize titanium-dioxide nanoparticles, which could be used in everything from solar cells to light-emitting diodes. (Photo by Randy Montoya) Sandia National Laboratories has come up with an inexpensive way to synthesize titanium-dioxide nanoparticles and is seeking partners who can demonstrate the process at industrial scale for everything from solar cells to LEDs. Titanium-dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles show great promise as fillers to tune the refractive index of anti-reflective coatings on signs and optical encapsulants for LEDs, solar cells and other optical devices. Luminit DTF (Direction Turning Film)

Luminit's DTF is a non-symmetrical linear micro prismatic that imparts a 20 degree shift in the angle of a semi-collimated light source. The DTF works well with LED light sources that utilize secondary optics.  Some applications include recessed can lights to allow more wall washing, pathway/stairway lighting and pool lighting.
