Dear Savas Beatie Readers,
I'd like to begin October's newsletter with a big shout out and congratulations to my baseball team: The Pittsburgh Pirates! True fans like me have suffered through one of the worst winning-season droughts in history -- 20 years to be exact. The last time the Pirates played in October: Californians rioted over the Rodney King verdict; Bill Clinton was elected into office; and Billy Ray Cyrus had the number 1 selling album in the U.S. Ouch! Unfortunately, Ted's team -- The SF Giants -- are unable to defend their title this year.
Okay, enough on baseball. Welcome to fall and the following new releases this month:

 The Maps of the Bristoe Station and Mine Run Campaigns is hot off the presses and author Brad Gottfried will have copies to sign and deliver to you following his presentation at Bristoe Station Battlefield on October 12 from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Bristoe Station is the fifth installment in the Savas Beatie Military Atlas Series. Few historians have examined what happened during the critical months following Gettysburg, when both armies assumed the offensive in a pair of fascinating campaigns of thrust and counter-thrust. Alex Beall recently joined the Savas Beatie team as a Sales and Marketing Research Assistant working with our Accounts Manager, Helene Dodier. Alex was born in Sacramento, CA, and has two brothers (she is the middle child and only girl). When Alex is not working at Savas Beatie, she is at Sacramento State studying Psychology. Her dream is to become a children's psychologist because of her love of children and her desire to learn more about the developmental and cognitive process that occurs in kids. During her limited free time, she loves spending time with family and friends or going to SF to see the Giants.
