Community Development Philanthropy Update
May 2016
Mississippi Transfer of Wealth Opportunity Study
Since our first Transfer of Wealth™ (TOW) study over a decade ago for the Nebraska Community Foundation, we have completed nearly 60 TOW studies across the United States - covering nearly 60% of all American communities ranging from very rural places on the Eastern Plains of Montana to America's largest cities including Los Angeles and Brooklyn. For a number of places, we have also completed updated TOW studies including Indiana, Nebraska, parts of North Dakota, Montana and Pennsylvania. This updated research gives us deep insights into changes in wealth holding and the transfer of wealth opportunity pre- and post-Great Recession.

We are pleased to announce that we have been commissioned to prepare Transfer of Wealth Opportunity analysis for Mississippi and its 82 counties. The Mississippi Association of Grantmakers (www.msgrantmakers.com) is sponsoring the study. Preliminary analysis in support of the Endow Mississippi Initiative is due early summer 2016 and our final analysis is scheduled for release in the fall of 2016.
