Philanthropy Ohio's Summer Institute
|
Ahmet Binerer and Don Macke will be presenting at Philanthropy Ohio's Summer Institute July 9. Our session, Understanding Your Donor Opportunities, is designed to introduce participants to strategic tools for developing community donors. Participants will see how to create smarter and more successful donor development strategies in a hand-on workshop that provides practical tips and tactics.
Other workshops presented by national experts and thought leaders will cover philanthropy, leadership and community impact throughout Ohio. You'll build your skills and knowledge in donor development, facilitation, effective collaboration and so much more when we gather at The Ohio State University Blackwell Center in Columbus.

New materials on Community Development Philanthropy.
We've added multiple tools to our website to support communities with community-driven strategies for prosperity. You can learn more about these tools by clicking on the following:
Generational Diversity in Lorain County Ohio.
Diversity is most often viewed in terms of race or gender. Is there a mix of races in a particular community or neighborhood? Are women well represented among the leadership of a community or a company? Given the differences in values and characteristics across generations, it may be useful to understand diversity from a generational perspective. The generation groomed during the Depression Era bears little resemblance to those "millennials" who came of age in more affluent times. Data from several sources are used to create a profile of generational diversity for Lorain County Ohio, beginning with the "Missionary" generation born from 1860 to 1882 through the "Homeland" generation born since 2005. Implications of generational diversity for community-based philanthropy are discussed as well.
Work in Appalachian Ohio.
The Center and its partners are now working with the following regions on philanthropy related community engagement: Paradox Region of Colorado, New Mexico, Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle, Lubbock and West Texas, Lorain and Huron Counties in Ohio and the 32 counties of Appalachian Ohio. Recently Don Macke completed a site visit with the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio. The Foundation has a remarkable commitment and game plan for energizing philanthropy in communities throughout this region.
