It's no surprise the Center for Rural Entrepreneurship strives to help communities become more entrepreneurial. Each region and each entrepreneur has a different role depending on the environment. Rural BanksThe Oct. 21-27 edition of the Bloomberg Business Week ran a piece titled "Rural Banks Know Something Big Banks Don't" focusing on taking time to know who you are lending to. The wonderful idea of quality over quantity leads to better outcomes. Check out this interesting piece.
 
Economic Gardening Certification Class: Economic Gardening continues to grow around the country. New opportunities for certification classes are posted. If you're not already enrolled, apply for membership for the Econ-dev Google group site.
 
The 31st Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education: This year's conference is held in Cleveland on Nov. 16-18. It will feature great keynote speakers, a student entrepreneur marketplace and the opportunity to learn about the latest trends in entrepreneurship education. Small Business Saturday. Nov. 30th marks small business Saturday this year, which has become a fixture on the holiday shopping calendar over the past three years. We've provided tool kits for a small business owner, a consumer and a general tool kit to aid the promotion of shopping small.
