Greetings!

The posting of events does not imply an endorsement of the sponsoring groups or their political views.  We post events sponsored by other groups when we think the topics will be of interest to CALC's members and friends.  Often we have a close working relationship with those groups, but not always.  Only CALC-sponsored or co-sponsored events carry our specific endorsement.

TODAY!!!
A Vigil for Peace in Afghanistan
Wednesday, December 5
4:30-5:30 pm
the old Federal Bldg.
7th and Pearl, Eugene

Last Thursday Oregon Senator Merkley's amendment to bring our troops home from Afghanistan passed in an overwhelming 62-33 vote.

This is the culmination of years of work to build congressional support for a quicker end to the war, and it's the first successful vote of its kind in either the House or the Senate.

Working to end the war has been a long and difficult effort, but last weeks vote is a clear sign that we are making a real difference.

Join us as we build on this victory by calling publicly for peace in Afghanistan, Wednesday, December 5, 4:30-5:30 pm at the old Federal Bldg., 7th and Pearl, in Eugene.

The vigil is part of a worldwide effort to sign up two million people in support of peace in Afghanistan. Click here to find out more about the campaign and to sign a petition calling for a ceasefire in Afghanistan.
