Congratulations to the Class of 2016!
Congratulations to our Class of 2016! On Wednesday of this week, they celebrated a time-honored tradition with the 8th graders ringing the century-old bell signifying their graduation. After the ceremony, we hosted a Farewell Mass in their honor. They enjoyed their End of the Year party with yearbook signing, lunch and socializing. On Thursday, we celebrated their graduation.


Administration News
Staffing Changes
The 2016-17 School Year is shaping up to have some exciting changes in our faculty and staff. We'd like to announce the following changes thus far:
  • Mrs. Becky Springsteen will be moving to Middle School Language Arts and will be our Language Arts Department Chair.
  • Mrs. Keri Barton will teach 5th grade.
  • Mrs. Paula Stapleton will be the new unit chair for grades 3-5.
  • Mrs. Linda Schildwachter will return to 2nd grade next year.
  • Mrs. Dana Fischbeck will move the Enrollment Coordinator position. 
  • Mrs. Calise Munne has accepted the middle school Social Studies position for next year. Mrs. Munne has been teaching Social Studies to 7th grade students at Southern Oaks Middle School. She has also taught at St. Andrews Academy. Mrs. Munne has been a substitute at St. Anastasia from 2012-2013. She was the Department Chair for the Civics teachers at Southern Oaks and brings innovative and creative teaching tools with her to this position. She is the mother of two children (Carter and Jace) who will be joining us in Kindergarten and 1st grade next year. Please extend a warm St. Anastasia welcome to her and her family when you see her in the community.
We are currently working on filling the Middle School Science position.
Playground Update
We have currently raised $125,000 in donations from parents, parishioners, friends of St. Anastasia, grandparents, faculty, staff, and many others who have come together to make the building of a new playground this summer a reality for our children. This includes the following donors:

Again this summer, we will feature the "Where in the World is St. A's?" photo journal. Take a photo when you are vacation or even a "stay-cation" with your St. A's magnet, a St. A's or Rams t-shirt or even a St. A's sign, and then e-mail it to Mrs. Trabulsy at ltrabulsy@saintanastasiaschool.org or post it to our Facebook Page. Kindergarten News
Principal for the Day
We had a new Principal on Wednesday! Our Principal for the Day was kindergarten student Reagan Langel. Her grandparents won this opportunity for her at the Night for the Children Auction. She assisted Dr. Hoeffner with the Bell Ringing Ceremony, enjoyed early morning Cake Pops and attended mass with him. She did a great job!

Student of the Day
Say HELLO to our Student of the Day, Reagan Langel! Her parents won this opportunity for her at this year's 90th Anniversary Great Gatsby Celebration 14th Annual Night for the Children. As Student of the Day, Reagan received a Free Dress Day, a Free Homework Pass, Free Lunch and an article in this week's newsletter. 

Reagan is in Mrs. Smith's kindergarten class. Her favorite subject is music. Her favorite song is My Country. The thing she is looking forward to in first grade is art class. She has two brothers, Tyler and Cole. Her favorite color is pink and she enjoys playing outside with her cousins. She plans to go to the beach this summer! Sounds great, Reagan! Thank you for being a great Student of the Day!

On Mother's Day, several of our second graders participated in the May Crowning at St. Anastasia Church.

Science Day in Third Grade
On Friday, our third graders enjoyed Science Day! They participated in several science experiments and built an igloo out of milk jugs. They had fun while learning!

Fourth Grade News
IXL Rockstars in 4th Grade!
We have some ROCKSTARS in 4th Grade - IXL Rockstars, that is! These amazing students completed 100,000 problems on IXL this year. WoW! Way to go!

Assistant Principal for the Day
We had a couple new Administrators on campus Wednesday. Our Assistant Principal for the Day was 5th grader Michael Gernie. His grandparents won this opportunity for him at the annual Night for the Children Auction this year. He watched the 8th graders Ring the Bell, attended mass and enjoyed lunch with Mrs. O'Loughlin and Mrs. Richmond. He did a great job! 
Eighth Grade News
8th Grade Thanks Big Apple Pizza!
On their last full day of school, the 8th grade was treated to lunch by Big Apple Pizza! Thank you Big Apple!

Uniform Exchange
Uniform Exchange is Next Week
The Uniform Exchange will take place on Wednesday, May 25 and Thursday, May 26. Please bring uniforms for exchange on Wednesday to the Parish Center. You can pick up your items on Thursday. 8th grade parents are encouraged to donate their uniforms as well. Thank you.

Box Top for Education Challenge
Congratulations to Mrs. Steele's 2nd grade class - they won this year's Box Top Challenge. Their class brought in 2,771 Box Tops this year! They win the opportunity to Silly String Mrs. O'Loughlin next Thursday! The PTO collected $2,307 from Box Tops for Education this year. Thank you for your continued support and keep collecting Box Tops over the summer!

Thank You from the Media Center!
A message from Mrs. Palmeri:

The Media Center wants to thank all the students and families for making the book fair such a fun and huge success this spring. We grossed just over $10,000. Wow!! 

I appreciate everyone who came and shopped the Feelin' Groovy Spring book fair.  I especially appreciate my workers who always come through for me. 

Thank you to Jessica Odom & her art students for the cool lava lamp + peace sign artwork!  Loved them! An extra big 'THANK YOU' to Jane Goggin, Nancy Hallford, Kelly Picchiarini and Adam Bookspan.

A Sweet Time
St. Anastasia Junior Troop enjoyed working on their cooking badge with a trip to learn the art of cupcake decorating with the Cake Lady in downtown, Fort Pierce.

Visiting Abbie Jean Russell Care Center
St. Anastasia Girl Scouts recently spent the afternoon sharing stories, laughter, and of course, Girl Scout cookies with some of the residents of Abbie Jean Russell Care Center.

Best Wishes, Daniel!
St. Anastasia Church and School has been blessed over the last year to have our seminarian Daniel Daza-Jaller. He will be leaving us at the end of May and on the weekend of May 21st- 22nd, Daniel will be saying his goodbyes and thanking the St. Anastasia community during all weekend Masses.

Please join us on Sunday, May 22nd after the 9:30am Mass for a reception in the parish center to thank and honor Daniel for all he has done for our community over the past year. Please pray for Daniel as he continues the formation process in the seminary for priesthood.

Anastasia's Attic News
St. Anastasia Catholic School's Anastasia's Attic Thrift Shop directly benefits our school. Your donations are so important to us. Please call for a pick-up of large items. Pick-up days are Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays. 772-467-1444. The drop-off box at school has moved a little to the west of the old location, but is still available for you! You may drop off items there or at the shop located at 3901 Okeechobee Road, across from Moonswiners (formerly Dale's Bar-B-Q).

Shop hours are:
Monday - Friday - 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Saturday - 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Closed on Sundays

Every hour you work at the Attic will count for two (2) hours towards the volunteer hours you need at school!

The Attic is in need of working appliances to sell.
