Where in the World is St. A's?
Again this summer, we will feature the "Where in the World is St. A's?" photo journal. Take a photo when you are vacation or even a "stay-cation" with your St. A's magnet, a St. A's or Rams t-shirt or even a St. A's sign, and then e-mail it to Mrs. Trabulsy at [email protected] or post it to our Facebook Page. Magnets are available for $5 each at the Uniform Store. Make sure the picture features something about St. Anastasia! We look forward to sharing in your adventures this summer!

First Grade News
First Graders in the Garden
First Grade students began to care for their Praying Mantises in the egg stage on April 7th. Soon, hundreds of small nymphs hatched and feasted on fruit flies in a habitat in our classrooms. They learned that they are carnivores and eat only living insects. This past week, the surviving nymphs have reached the adolescent stage and were beginning to need more than fruit flies to eat. They released them this in our Milkweed Garden. The Praying Mantis is a "Garden Good Guy" and will help them to care for their Milkweed plants.
Seventh Grade News
Congratulations!
Congratulations to these two bright seventh graders! Johanna Rizo and Julia Jessup qualified for state recognition in the 2016 Duke University Talent Identification Program's Talent Search!

They received medals at a special ceremony recently at FAU honoring their exceptional performance.

Duke TIP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving academically gifted and talented students. Duke TIP works with students, their families, and educators to identify, recognize, challenge, engage, and help students reach their highest potential. Now in its thirty-sixth year, the 7th Grade Talent Search identifies bright seventh graders based on standardized test scores achieved while attending elementary or middle school. Candidates are invited to take the ACT or the SAT college entrance exams as seventh graders, which allows them greater insight into their academic abilities. In addition, they gain valuable benefits and have access to unique resources for gifted students.

These students have earned an award by scoring approximately at or above the national average of recent high school graduates on at least one part of the ACT or the SAT.

Congratulations to the Class of 2016

As the 2015-16 school year comes to a close for the students and faculty of St. Anastasia Catholic School, congratulations are in order for the Class of 2016.

In honor of the graduating eighth-graders, the school will host a farewell mass for the Class of 2016 on Wednesday, May 18 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anastasia Catholic Church. Graduation is set for Thursday, May 19 at 7 p.m. also at the church.

The graduating eighth-graders excelled at every aspect of student life this year by achieving high-reaching goals in their spiritual, academic, athletic and personal lives. This class worked very hard on their school work. They excelled in band and choir as they performed in competitions earning several members statewide recognition and local accolades. They were strong leaders in Student Government as well as devoted "Guardian Angels" to their first-grade "angels." They were active in their respective churches where several students served as altar servers and in other ministries. They were active outside the classroom, too. In addition to off-campus sports, theater, ballet and music, many volunteered for local non-profits in our community such as the Treasure Coast Food Bank, Hope's Closet for Children, St. Anastasia Youth Group, and many more.

Our graduates all fit the Profile of a Graduate for St. Anastasia:

Active Examples of Our Faith who:
  • Appreciate the value of prayer, service, and worship
  • Participate in the Church and its sacramental life
  • Understand our catechism and the teachings of the Catholic Church
Dedicated Inquirers who:
  • Analyze information and seek the objective truth found in the Gospel
  • Use technology tools purposefully and proficiently to serve God
  • Ask relevant and thoughtful questions
Global Citizens who:
  • Respect and care for God's creation
  • Listen, speak, read, and write effectively and creatively
  • Work independently and cooperatively in problem solving
Reflective Thinkers who:
  • Develop individual goals and strategies for success
  • Synthesize and evaluate complex information and problems
  • Apply their acquired knowledge through the filter of Christian virtues
The faculty and staff wishes to congratulate the Class of 2016 for their hard work, dedication and service to Christ and our community. Good luck, graduates!

Technology News
Message from Mr. Takahashi
Greetings parents!

As you may already know, St. Anastasia School and a Google development team have been creating e-portfolios and an e-portfolio app for parents, teachers, students and administrators. The student e-portfolios will hold valuable information about your child and his/her academic journey. We are very excited to announce that the portfolios are ready for you to access and utilize!

The e-portfolio app allows different levels of access based on who is viewing it. Parents will have an individual login created for them in order to access their child's portfolio. When you log in, you will be able to view all information that has been added by students, teachers, and administrators regarding your child.

The e-portfolios will be used to store everything from student created works to information that is currently housed in their cumulative folders. As a parent you will be able to add pictures and documents, as well as create goals for your child. The pictures and documents stored here are meant to serve as a snapshot into who your child is beyond the grades in the grade book and eventually serve as documentation for how your child has developed as a whole person.

We invite you to come to the Media Center any day between 8:00-4:00 from now until the end of the school year to meet with Mr. Takahashi and to create your parent account. This short meeting will take about 10 minutes. If you would like to schedule a specific time with Mr. Takahashi, please e-mail him at ktakahashi@saintanastasiaschool.org

Thank you for your interest and participation in this exciting advancement for the students of St. Anastasia School!
