90th Anniversary Great Gatsby Celebration
14th Annual Night for the Children
A Wonderful Success!
Thank you to everyone who helped make our 90th Anniversary Great Gatsby Celebration 14th Annual Night for the Children a smashing success! Everyone enjoyed the theme by dressing in their best roaring 20s attire. Guests had fun bidding on silent and live auction items, playing casino games, taking pictures in the photo booth, savoring a delicious dinner by Huck's Catering and dancing the night away with some fun tunes! The decorations in both the Media Center and the Parish Center helped transform the spaces into a fun speakeasy right out of 1926! Proceeds from the event help pay down the mortgage on the Media Center each year! Thank you for your support!

First Grade News
In Mrs. Noelke's First Grade class, they recently completed a reading selection about a boy and his family relocating from Japan to the US. They researched national symbols of Japan and the USA and compared the symbols and their meanings. They concluded the week with a directional drawing of the Statue of Liberty and and collaborative clay sculpting activity to create USA symbols they learned about. Way to go, first grade!

Seventh Grade News
Congratulations to the Duke TIP Participants
CONGRATULATIONS to the students who participated in the 2016 Duke University Talent Identification Program's 7th Grade Talent Search!

Duke TIP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving academically gifted and talented students. Duke TIP works with students, their families, and educators to identify, recognize, challenge, engage, and help students reach their highest potential. Now in its thirty-sixth year, the 7th Grade Talent Search identifies bright seventh graders based on standardized test scores achieved while attending elementary or middle school. Candidates are invited to take the ACT or the SAT college entrance exams as seventh graders, which allows them greater insight into their academic abilities. In addition, they gain valuable benefits and have access to unique resources for gifted students.

The following students participated this year:
Charlie Demarais
Joseph Fanizzi
Mallory Hendrickson
Julia Jessup
Christian Johnson
Adam Marsh
William Orlopp
Jillian Remsen
Johanna Rizo
Brodie Rohrbough
Bella Russman
Ruoyu Wang
Cyrus Wilkes

We would also like to recognize the two students who qualified for state recognition! These students have earned an award by scoring approximately at or above the national average of recent high school graduates on at least one part of the ACT or the SAT. These students are invited to a special State Recognition Ceremony to honor their exceptional performance!

The following students qualified for State Recognition:
Julie Jessup
Johanna Rizo

Congratulations to all of our participants! We are proud of you!

MISSION STATEMENT:
The Saint Anastasia Catholic School and Church Community is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, where Catholic doctrine and values are integrated with a challenging curriculum.

Through effective and innovative instruction, a balanced and healthy lifestyle, and active participation in the Sacramental life of the church, we work together with our families to develop foundations on which our children can build their lives.

Inspired by the founding Adrian Dominican nuns in 1926, St. Anastasia Catholic School continues to seek the truth in the Gospel, the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, and the value of all human life.
