Book Drive for Hope's Closet
Catholic Schools Week Book Drive for Hope's Closet for Children
Hope's Closet for Children is in need of gently used or new books for all ages of children from Pre-K to teen books. We will collect books during Catholic Schools Week and members of Student Government will deliver the books on Thursday. Please start collecting your books for donating to Hope's Closet. They especially need books for middle schoolers or teenagers.

Hope's Closet 4 Children provides gently-used clothing for children, age birth to 17. Sadly many children may not attend school because they do not have appropriate clothes. Created to assist children who are disadvantaged due to family poverty or homelessness, the Closet allows clients to shop for free in a boutique-style setting. Each child who receives clothes also gets to pick out a book for free. For information about Hope's Closet, click here.
Jog-A-Thon News
Jog-A-Thon is Friday, February 5, 2016!
Each student obtains pledges, either by lap or as a single pledge, and on the day of the event, runs laps around a track. The laps are counted and students are eligible to win prizes based on how many laps they run. Pledges are then tallied and mailed to the sponsors for payment. Pre-K students will participate but will only run for 30 minutes. They will not carry lap cards, so sponsors should just pledge a flat amount.

The LAST Turn In Day for pledges is:
  • Thursday, February 4 (final day; by 9 a.m.)
Click here for prize information and details.

In order to participate in the Jog-A-Thon, students must turn in at least $10 in pledges. If turning in the minimum $10 pledge to participate provides a hardship for any family, please contact Mrs. Trabulsy in the Development Office. We want everyone to participate in this event!

Students should plan on wearing P.E. clothes and tennis shoes on the day of the event. The students really enjoy this event, so we encourage you to involve them in obtaining pledges from family members and friends! We would also like to invite you to join us for the Jog-a-Thon - bring a lawn chair and watch the festivities! Or, if you need volunteer hours, this is a great opportunity to help. You can sign up online at http://www.signupgenius.com or on our website. Don't forget that this day (Friday, Feb. 5th) is a noon dismissal, too. Thank you ahead of time for your continued support and generosity. If you have any questions, please contact me at ltrabulsy@saintanastasiaschool.org or (772) 461-2232.

Playground News
St. Anastasia 90th Anniversary Playground Fundraising Underway
As you may know, St. Anastasia Catholic School is raising money to build a new 90th Anniversary Playground. Educators and parents agree that unstructured, outdoor playtime helps children grow physically, emotionally, socially and cognitively with benefits that last a lifetime. Our new playground will modernize and update the current playground to include durable and safe equipment on soft, long-lasting turf all under a shad structure.

Detailed information was sent home in yesterday's Thursday folder. Please see the letter from St. Anastasia parent, Mrs. Amber Rankin, and consider helping us with this initiative.

MISSION STATEMENT:
The Saint Anastasia Catholic School and Church Community is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, where Catholic doctrine and values are integrated with a challenging curriculum.

Through effective and innovative instruction, a balanced and healthy lifestyle, and active participation in the Sacramental life of the church, we work together with our families to develop foundations on which our children can build their lives.

Inspired by the founding Adrian Dominican nuns in 1926, St. Anastasia Catholic School continues to seek the truth in the Gospel, the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, and the value of all human life.
