This is History!

On Tuesday, Dec. 8, history was made as students and faculty from St. Anastasia Catholic School and John Carroll Catholic High School celebrated the Immaculate Conception Mass together. This was the first time in the history of both schools that all students in K-12 celebrated a mass together. It was a beautiful and joyous way to kick off the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy!

Listen to the first few minutes of Father George's homily as he notes how history was being made at the mass.

Hail Mary, Full of Grace! The beautiful sounds of our St. Anastasia and John Carroll Catholic High School combined choirs at the Immaculate Conception mass.

Third Grade News
Students in third grade are beginning their adventure to learn about the Solar System. They were given the challenge to create a model of the Solar System with information about each planet. This was an extra credit project.

Also, in their reading series they read a story about how technology changed the world. Students were given the assignment to Build a Robot from everday household items. Then they had to write a paragraph about their robot answering questions like: How would your robot change how you do something? What can you imagine it doing? How do you envision it being used? Great job, third grade!

The Odyssey of the Mind teams have a message to share:

St. Anastasia School has two WONDERFUL Odyssey of the Mind teams this year! In order for them to enter the official competition, we need TWO PEOPLE to volunteer to be a judge at the Odyssey of the Mind competition. Anyone can be a judge...no experience needed!

Here are the details:
To be a judge you will have to attend two events -
  • February 20- Judges meeting from 9:00-12:00 in West Palm
  • February 27- Serve as a judge for most of the day at the Odyssey competition in West Palm
We are also looking for one "worker." The worker can be any age and will help out on the day of the competition, February 27. (This would be a great role for an older child or sibling!)

Remember, our teams can not register to compete without two judges!!! Please consider this role! The competition is always exciting and fun! Please call Tricia Goulet at 772-291-3319 and let her know you are interested.

Here are some photos from one of our Odyssey of the Mind teams of amusement park rides that move built from junk in 8 minutes.
