Open House is Today!
As St. Anastasia Catholic School celebrates its 90th Anniversary, we would like to invite prospective parents, grandparents and students to come experience what makes our school exceptional! Join us on Friday, November 13, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The school is located at 401 S. 33rd Street in Fort Pierce and serves students in Pre-K 3 through eighth grade. Discover the difference at St. Anastasia where we have been serving the Treasure Coast since 1926. St. Anastasia Catholic School provides an engaging and challenging curruculum with an emphasis on Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts and Mathmatics (STREAM). Each student participates in weekly enrichment clusters. We boast a championship athletic program, as well as an award-winning fine arts program that includes band, choir, drama, Spanish, art and more! We are proud of our Catholic identity by providing community service learning projects, weekly liturgies and daily prayer. The school has 1:1 technology in grades 5-8. The campus is gated with a full security system. We are also pleased to offer extra-curricular activities such as Student Government, Odyssey of the Mind, Girls and Boys Scouts, Engineering for Kids STEM Lego Robotics, Drum Line and Junior Master Gardener Program. On Wednesday, November 11, St. Anastasia Catholic Church and School celebrated our veterans with a special mass in their honor, a patriotic performance by our Royal Ram Symphonic Band, a flag retirement ceremony by our Cub Scouts Troop 473 and a breakfast! Thank you for your service, Veterans!

 Attention parents: There will be a gift wrapping party for Santa's Christmas Corner on Saturday, November 14 from 9 a.m. until noon at the Seacoast Self Storage located at 2448 U.S. 1, Fort Pierce, FL 34946. This is a fun way to get some volunteer hours on a weekend!

Attention parents:
SANTA'S CHRISTMAS CORNER
DECEMBER 1-3, 2015
Each year the PTO sponsors Santa's Christmas Corner. It will be held in Room 211 in the Media Center. This traditional program enables children to do their holiday shopping "on their own" under the supervision of parent volunteers. Please emphasize to your child that this is not an opportunity to shop for himself or herself. Merchandise is priced from $1 to $12.
On November 19th, we will be sending home a "shopping list" for students in grades Pre-K through 3. Please indicate on the "Shopping List" for whom your child will be shopping and the amount to be spent. This will be a big help for the parent volunteers who will be at Santa's Christmas Corner to assist the students. Please place cash or check in an envelope and attach it to the Shopping List.

Second Grade News

The Oxbow Eco- Center came to teach the Second Graders about the life of a Seminole Native American. The students learned about how they lived, collected food, and built their homes. Mr. Jerry also brought along a three year old alligator. He discussed with the students how important the alligators were to the Seminole Indians. The second graders were very excited about visiting the STREAM lab.

The Royal Ram Symphonic Band is very busy this time of year! Tune into WPSL 1590 AM on Monday, Nov. 16th as they perform on the WPSL Christmas Kids show from 11-11:30 a.m. to kick off the Christmas Season. They will be performing at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center if you want to see them in person!
Other important upcoming dates:
Dec. 4 - Christmas Concert at St. Anastasia Church at 7 p.m.
Dec. 6 - Sights & Sounds Christmas Parade in Downtown Fort Pierce beginning at 4:30 p.m.

 Sponsor-an-Athlete Program
We have developed the "Sponsor-an-Athlete" program for Saint Anastasia's Basketball and Cheerleading teams. We need your help to build a successful program. Each student athlete, with the help of  their parents, is encouraged to find at least one corporate or private sponsor to make a tax-deductible contribution.This program will assist in the costs of referees, equipment, uniforms, transportation, and end of year awards and banquets. With your sponsorship, you will receive a banner, a certificate of appreciation and a complete season schedule.  Christ the King Soccer Tournament

Any 6th - 8th grade students who would be interested in playing in this tournament should contact Coach Jo. On the day of the tournament, you would meet on the soccer field at 1:00 pm, wearing your P.E. clothes. The schedule of games is as follows:
Adults - 1:00-1:45 pm
Middle School - 1:45-2:30 pm
High School - 2:30-3:30 pm

Service Learning News

Last week, our third graders filled their Boxes of JOY for their Service Learning project. Over the past month, they collected items to send to the children in Guatemala through Cross Catholic International.

These are as needed positions, with no benefits.
Substitute Teacher
Salary is $11 per hour
Applicants must have at least a two year college degree. It is preferred that some of the classes taken are in the area of Elementary Education.
Substitute Teacher Assistant
Salary is $9 per hour.
Applicants must have at least a high school diploma. Completion of some college classes is preferred.

What will I need?
Seating will be available under the pavilion or bring your chairs and blankets for seating on the soccer field. Food will be available for purchase after Mass. Please join us after Mass for the Christ The King Soccer Tournament from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Why? To publicly celebrate Christ as Our King & Savior of the World. Please Note: The Saturday Vigil Mass at 4:00 p.m. on November 21st will be celebrated as normal.
Attention St. A's Parents and Families! We are encouraging all family members to wear the same t-shirts for this event. We would like all students to wear their grey St. Anastasia PE shirts (except choir members). We have FREE adult size matching shirts available now through Mrs. Trabulsy's office. If you know you will be attending and want a shirt, please contact Mrs. Trabulsy at ltrabulsy@saintanastasiaschool.org. We look forward to everyone attending!

Anastasia's Attic

St. Anastasia Catholic School's Anastasia's Attic Thrift Shop directly benefits our school. Your donations are so important to us. Please call for a pick-up of large items. Pick-up days are Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays. 772-467-1444. The drop-off box at school has moved a little to the west of the old location, but is still available for you! You may drop off items there or at the shop located at 3901 Okeechobee Road, across from Moonswiners (formerly Dale's Bar-B-Q).
Shop hours are:
Monday - Friday - 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Saturday - 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Closed on Sundays
Thank you so much for your continued support!
Every hour you work at the Attic will count for two (2) hours towards the volunteer hours you need at school!
