Kindergarten News
The kindergarten students in Mrs. Picano's class worked on a Five Finger Speckled Frog play to present to our Pre-K students.

Third Grade News
The third graders are enjoying practicing their spelling words and multiplication facts in the courtyard.

Fourth Grade News
Students in Mrs. Savage's 4th grade class recently visited the STREAM Lab. Prior to going to the Lab, they learned about the Tower of Babel in Religion. They also talked about the Twin Towers on Friday, Sept. 11. They discussed other towers in our world including the Eiffel Tower, the Great Pyramids, and more. While in the Lab, they designed and built their own towers using marshmallows, spaghetti and play-dough. Great job, 4th grade!

Service Learning News
Our 8th graders began working on their Service Learning project this week. Representatives from St. Mary's Medical Center Alliance for Kids stopped by to talk to them about their Monkey for Me and Hero Alliance programs. Alliance for Kids is a non-profit organization that supports hospitalized children. They have many programs, but the two the 8th graders will assist with this year are the Monkey for Me and Hero Alliance programs. The Monkey for Me program gives patients their very own soft monkey to stuff and love. It comes complete with a Birth Certificate and t-shirt. It allows children a comfort item to help with the stress of being in the hospital. The Hero Alliance program allows organizations and individuals to use their "Super Powers" to support the little "heroes" at the hospital. The students look forward to learning more about these programs and helping them throughout the year.

One of the organizations we will support this year as part of our Service Learning program is the Catholic Orphanage in Tanzania built by Father Mark Mlay. Father Mark was a priest here at St. Anastasia Church for 6 years. He is asking for our help in the form of books, children's clothes and toys. From now until Oct. 31, we will collect text books, reading books, children's toys and clothes for shipment to Africa. He specifically needs clothes for boys and girls ages 3-7 (shorts, shirts, skirts). They are in the process of building an elementary school and high school, so the books will be of great use, too. If you would like to donate any of these items, please bring them to the school. Collection will take place in the back of the auditorium. Thank you!
