Cell Phone Policy
|
Attention Parents: This is a new policy this year. It is found on pg. 17 of the Handbook. Please familiarize yourself with this change in policy!
Cell Phone/Personal Electronic Device Policy Saint Anastasia School strongly discourages students from bringing any personal electronic device on campus, however, if brought on campus, student-owned cell phones/other electronic devices will be required to be confined to the student's backpack. Cell phones will not be allowed to be used during school hours and may not be seen or heard from. Cell phones/electronic devices must be shut off during school hours, during extracurricular activities and during After Care.
If students must use a cell phone to contact a parent/guardian at any time, students must ask for permission first from the supervising teacher/coach to do so. No calling or texting may be done without permission. If students are found using a cell phone without permission the following disciplinary action may take place:
1st offense: Lunch Detention 2nd offense: After School Detention with $10 fine 3rd offense: Saturday Detention with $20 fine
Phones/electronic devices which are confiscated from students during the school day will be taken to the school office where they can be picked up after school hours.
Cell phones/electronic devices will be returned to parent/guardian only.
The school assumes no liability for lost or damaged cell phones or other electronic devices.

Parent/Student Handbook
|
Diocesan policy requires that a signed Parent-Student Handbook Acknowledgement Form is kept on file for every family each year. Please review the handbook, sign the Parent-Student Handbook Acknowledgement Form that was sent home yesterday and return the form to the school office by Monday, August 24, 2015. The 2015 edition of the Parent Student Handbook can be found on the school's website - www.saintanastasiaschool.org. If you require a paper copy of the handbook, please contact the school office. Copies of the forms to be signed were sent home in the Thursday folder or you can click here for the form.
USE OF STUDENT INFORMATION/IMAGES - Parents are asked to read, sign and return by August 24, 2015, the "Diocesan Authorization for Use and Reproduction of Physical Likeness" form that was sent home yesterday. A parent who does not wish for his or her child's picture to be used by the school or other entities of the Diocese of Palm Beach should notify the Principal in writing by August 24, 2015. Click here for the form.
The Volunteer Handbook form can be downloaded here.
If you have already returned the Handbook Acknowledgement Form and the Diocesan Authorization for Use and Reproduction of Physical Likeness Form, thank you. You do not need to send in the forms again.

Homeroom Parents News
|
Now that you have been informed of your child's classroom assignment, we are looking forward to enthusiastic moms or dads to step forward and volunteer to become a Homeroom Parent. This year, the Homeroom Parent program will be coordinated by Mrs. Karina Priest and some changes to the program have been made for this school year. As a Homeroom Parent, you earn your 20 hours for the year. However, there are new aspects to the program and here are the highlights:
- Homeroom parents can only serve as homeroom parent for one class;
- Homeroom parents will need to email the parents in their class and teachers monthly to keep them informed. A parent contact list will be provided to you;
- Homeroom parents are welcome and encouraged to attend all PTO meetings, and will get an email after every meeting highlighting information to disseminate; however, attendance is not mandatory;
- Homeroom parents must coordinate Christmas and End of the Year Parties with teachers and families;
- Homeroom parents must coordinate class auction package/basket.
Classes who need Homeroom Parents:
B-1/Brennan/Pre-K4 B-3/Forget/Pre-K4 W-5/Picano/K W-8/Bush/1 M-2/Barton/2 105/Stapleton/5 201/Lott/6
The 20 hours will be earned by tasks. The four main tasks include: the Christmas Party, End of Year Party, Auction item and monthly communication with parents. Each task completed earns 5 points. Those parents who go above and beyond will earn prizes such as free dress days for their children, free lunch or a feature in the newsletter. We will announce a meeting date for the Homeroom parents in an upcoming newsletter.
If you are interested in being your child's class Homeroom parent, please text or email Karina Priest at 561-329-4515, karinapriest@gmail.com

HOW DO I BECOME AN APPROVED VOLUNTEER OR FIELD TRIP CHAPERONE?
It is the policy of the Diocese of Palm Beach and St. Anastasia Catholic School to complete a background and fingerprint check on any parent/adult who wishes to volunteer in the classroom, volunteer at school events or chaperone a field trip.
Before a parent may volunteer or chaperone they must also
- attend a Protecting God's Children workshop. Protecting God's Children is a workshop on child sexual abuse. The schedule of workshops is placed in the weekly newsletter.
- read and sign the Diocese of Palm Beach Code of Pastoral Conduct for Church Personnel.
- complete a Volunteer Information Sheet.
Parents will not be approved to volunteer or chaperone until we have received the following: - results of a fingerprint background check;
- verification of attendance at a Protecting God's Children workshop;
- a signed Code of Pastoral Conduct;
- a completed Volunteer Information Sheet.
The fingerprint background check is valid for 5 years. Please call or send a note to the office if you would like to request a Volunteer Packet. The packet will be sent home with your child.
