| Welcome to the 2015-16 School Year! |
Your child's homeroom assignment and classroom pass for the 2015-2016 school year was mailed last week. If you did not receive it, please contact the Finance Office to reconcile your debts to the school. The amount owed will be deducted from your St. A Payment Account if not paid prior to the beginning of school. If your financial obligation is greater than $50.00, we ask that you come to the school office to submit your payment. You will then receive your child's homeroom assignment and classroom pass.
Below is a list of upcoming events and descriptions of the meetings and events:
OPEN HOUSE - FRIDAY, AUGUST 14th, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. All families are welcome at Open House! This is an informal opportunity for families to tour the facilities, visit their classrooms, and meet their teachers and administrators. This is a wonderful opportunity to bring school supplies to school! Also, if your child does not have a St. A Payment Program Account, for purchased lunch and attending After Care, please stop in the auditorium to set up your new account and to fill out important paperwork. NEW PARENT ORIENTATION - AUGUST 14th, 3-4 pm. All new families are strongly encouraged to come to parent orientation that will be held in the STREAM Center, on the second floor of the main building, at 3 p.m. All new families who sign in at this event will receive 1 hour of volunteer time.

Homeroom Parents News
|
Now that you have been informed of your child's classroom assignment, we are looking forward to enthusiastic moms or dads to step forward and volunteer to become a Homeroom Parent. This year, the Homeroom Parent program will be coordinated by Mrs. Karina Priest and some changes to the program have been made for this school year. As a Homeroom Parent, you earn your 20 hours for the year. However, there are new aspects to the program and here are the highlights:
- Homeroom parents can only serve as homeroom parent for one class;
- Homeroom parents will need to email the parents in their class and teachers monthly to keep them informed. A parent contact list will be provided to you;
- Homeroom parents are welcome and encouraged to attend all PTO meetings, and will get an email after every meeting highlighting information to disseminate; however, attendance is not mandatory;
- Homeroom parents must coordinate Christmas and End of the Year Parties with teachers and families;
- Homeroom parents must coordinate class auction package/basket.
The 20 hours will be earned by tasks. The four main tasks include: the Christmas Party, End of Year Party, Auction item and monthly communication with parents. Each task completed earns 5 points. Those parents who go above and beyond will earn prizes such as free dress days for their children, free lunch or a feature in the newsletter. We will announce a meeting date for the Homeroom parents in an upcoming newsletter.
If you are interested in being your child's class Homeroom parent, please text or email Karina Priest at 561-329-4515, karinapriest@gmail.com

HOW DO I BECOME AN APPROVED VOLUNTEER OR FIELD TRIP CHAPERONE?
It is the policy of the Diocese of Palm Beach and St. Anastasia Catholic School to complete a background and fingerprint check on any parent/adult who wishes to volunteer in the classroom, volunteer at school events or chaperone a field trip.
Before a parent may volunteer or chaperone they must also
- attend a Protecting God's Children workshop. Protecting God's Children is a workshop on child sexual abuse. The schedule of workshops is placed in the weekly newsletter.
- read and sign the Diocese of Palm Beach Code of Pastoral Conduct for Church Personnel.
- complete a Volunteer Information Sheet.
Parents will not be approved to volunteer or chaperone until we have received the following: - results of a fingerprint background check;
- verification of attendance at a Protecting God's Children workshop;
- a signed Code of Pastoral Conduct;
- a completed Volunteer Information Sheet.
The fingerprint background check is valid for 5 years. Please call or send a note to the office if you would like to request a Volunteer Packet. The packet will be sent home with your child.
