Catholic Schools Week
Catholic Schools Week is January 26-31, 2014

The theme for the National Catholic Schools Week 2014 is "Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service."  The 2014 theme marks the 40th Anniversary of National Catholic Schools Week 2014.

The theme encompasses several concepts that are at the heart of a Catholic education. First, schools are communities-small families in their own right, but also members of the larger community of home, church, city and nation. Faith, knowledge and service are three measures by which any Catholic school can and should be judged.

Here are the activities planned for our Catholic Schools Week.

Sunday, January 26
Kick Off Mass at St. Anastasia Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m.
Students who attend ANY MASS this weekend, in uniform, qualify for a Free Dress Day on Monday, Jan. 27th. Please bring in a bulletin from your church as your Free Dress Day pass. Students who attend other parishes and churches may also participate.

Monday, January 27 - Knowledge Theme
Luncheon and Prayer Service for local Parish Pastors and Priests

Tuesday, January 28 - Faith Theme
Grandparent Mass and Breakfast for students in 5th-8th grades at
8:15 a.m. mass - Breakfast in auditorium

Wednesday, January 29 - Faith Theme
Grandparent Mass and Breakfast for students in Pre-K-4th grades at
8:15 a.m. mass - Breakfast in auditorium (grades 1-4) &
Parish Center (Pre-K & K)

Thursday, January 30 - Service Theme
Book Drive for Hope's Closet for Children
We are collecting gently used or new books for children (ages newborn to 17) for Grace Way Village's Hope's Closet for Children. They provide clothing and shoes to children at no cost to members of our community. Each time a child is given clothing, they are also given a book. This is where we can help. Please send in books for this Service Project and members of the Student Government will collect and deliver to Hope's Closet on this day.

Friday, January 31 - Fun & Fitness!
Jog-A-Thon - Noon Dismissal!
Jog-A-Thon

Welcome to the 2013-14 St. Anastasia Catholic School Jog-A-Thon!

The Jog-A-Thon is Friday, Jan. 31, 2014. This fun event is a very important fundraiser for the school and we need every student's participation in order for us to succeed. Our school goal is $20,000 and we can reach that goal if each student turns in at least $40 in pledges.

Each student obtains pledges, either by lap or as a single pledge, and on the day of the event, runs laps around a track. The laps are counted and students are eligible to win prizes based on how many laps they run. Pledges are then tallied and mailed to the sponsors for payment.

We have two more Turn-In Days for pledges:

  • Thursday, Jan. 23 (by 9 a.m.)*
  • Thursday, Jan. 30 (final day)

*If students turn in pledges on Thursday, Jan. 23, they will win a St. A's Water Bottle! The deadline to turn in pledges is 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 30.

Prize Info:

  • For each student that turns in pledges by 9 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, students will receive a St. Anastasia Water Bottle.
  • Each student who completes 20 laps during the Jog-a-Thon will receive a coupon for a Free 6" Sub from Presutti's Italian Subs in Fort Pierce.
  • Each student who completes 40 or more laps during the Jog-a-Thon will receive a St. A's Athletics Gym Bag.
  • $25-$49.99 in pledges = ONE FREE DRESS DAY
  • $50 or more in pledges=TWO FREE DRESS DAYS
  • Class with the Highest Dollar Amount Pledged - The winning class in each division (Grades K-4 and Grades 5-8) will receive a: Movie and Popcorn* Party(*Mr. Clemenzi's Famous Kettle Korn Popcorn)
  • If we reach our School Goal, ALL Students will receive a Blue & Gold Free Dress Day!

In order to participate in the Jog-A-Thon, students must turn in at least $10 in pledges. If turning in the minimum $10 pledge to participate provides a hardship for any family, please contact Mrs. Trabulsy in the Development Office. We want everyone to participate in this event!

Students should plan on wearing P.E. clothes and tennis shoes on the day of the event. The students really enjoy this event, so we encourage you to involve them in obtaining pledges from family members and friends! We would also like to invite you to join us for the Jog-a-Thon - bring a lawn chair and watch the festivities! Or, if you need volunteer hours, this is a great opportunity to help. You can sign up online by clicking here.

Special Prayer Reminder
A special prayer reminder... we are allowing our students to wear "Caden Prayer Bracelets" to school to lift up one of our students in prayer as he battles some health issues.  We have purchased red and green bands and are asking the students to make the bracelets during free time.  The bracelet pattern was created by Caden's sister and consists of his favorite colors, red and green.  Please speak to your child's teacher if you have any questions about the bracelets.  Thank you for your prayers for Caden!
SAC News
The School Advisory Council Meeting is rescheduled for Friday, Jan. 24 at 7:30 a.m. in M211 of the Media Center.
Garden of Blessings News
With the recent cold-snaps, the Junior Master Gardeners will be covering (no pun intended) the topic of plant protection next week. The program and garden is in need of the following:
  • Pieces of PVC pipe at least 4' long. (We can cut anything longer, but nothing too thick.)
  • Old sheets.
We will install the PVC in the corners of the beds & throw the sheets over top to help protect the plants from freezing temps. So, if you have a pile of PVC pipe in your garage or a mountain of old sheets at home, bring them to the front office for Ms. McCadden!  Thanks!

Mission Statement

The Saint Anastasia Catholic School and Church Community is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, where Catholic doctrine and values are integrated with a challenging curriculum.

Through effective and innovative instruction, a balanced and healthy lifestyle, and active participation in the Sacramental life of the church, we work together with our families to develop foundations on which our children can build their lives.

Inspired by the founding Adrian Dominican nuns in 1927, St. Anastasia Catholic School continues to seek the truth in the Gospel, the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, and the value of all human life.
