Dear Reader,
I mentioned our Used Book Blowout and here are the details. From Wednesday, Feb. 13 to Thursday, Feb. 28 we want to get these awesome books into your hands. All hardcovers are $5, all trade paperbacks are $3, and all mass markets are $.50. We won't even add tax! Mystery fans, you should get in here soon for the best selection. And the nonfiction is pretty eclectic.
This week is Valentine's Day. Nothing says love like a good piece of fiction. And you can quote me on that.
Happy Reading,
Luan
PS: Remember, this will be our last Sunday open for a while. We have a great event scheduled to close it out- Reinventing the Chicken Coop. So come by before that or for the event!

| Perla by Carolina de Robertis $15 now in paperback! Growing up as a privileged only child in Buenos Aires, Perla Correa learned early on not to discuss the profession of her naval officer father in a country still reeling from the abuses of a deposed military dictatorship. But when an uninvited visitor appears in Perla's home, this encounter sets her on a journey that will force her to confront the unease she has suppressed all her life, and to make a wrenching decision about who she is, and who she will become. Carolina lives in Oakland.
Hush Now, Don't You Cry by Rhys Bowen $14.99 Molly Murphy, now Molly Sullivan, and her husband Daniel, a captain in the New York Police department, have been invited to spend their honeymoon on the Newport, RI, estate of Alderman Brian Hannan in the spring of 1904. Molly doesn't entirely trust the offer. Hannan, an ambitious man, has his eye on a senate seat and intentions of taking Tammany Hall to get it. When Hannan is found dead at the base of the cliffs that overlook the Atlantic, Molly's suspicions are quickly justified, and as much as she wants to keep her promise to Daniel that she won't do any more sleuthing now, there isn't much she can do once the chase is on. Rhys Bowen's brilliant wit and charm are on full display in Hush Now, Don't You Cry, another outstanding addition to her Agatha and Anthony award-winning historical series.

For the Younger Reader!
|
Lonely Planet- it's not just for grown ups! They have some great kids' books and three of them are on display now! Here are three of their Not-For-Parents series. Extreme Planet ($19.99) offers young readers a whirlwind tour of the globe, seeking out the highest, deepest, widest, narrowest, hottest, scariest, smelliest . . . things on the planet. How to Be a World Explorer ($17.99)
shows young readers how to venture through all the landscapes on Earth as well as through the air, over the seas, and under the waves-plus how to find food and water in the wild, avoid deadly diseases and fight back against man-eating beasts. The Travel Book ($19.99) can take the young reader on a dream trip around the world, stopping off at every country along the way--without having to budge from their beanbag. Each country has a dedicated page that's packed with lively snippets, stories, and record-breaking facts and statistics. You probably know a fact based kid who would lovelovelove any or all of these books. I know I do.
Caldecott Medal Winner This is Not My Hat by Jon Klassen $15.99 The Caldecott Medal was named in honor of nineteenth-century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott. It is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children. I like to think of it as an award given to the book in which the illustrations and words make little sense apart, but together are an amazing thing. This book is exactly that! We have a few first editions for the collectors among you.
