Message from the Rabbi

Rabbi USE THIS ONE!

Renewing Our Vows

Dear Friends,

I begin with words of gratitude to you, my congregational family,

for so graciously inviting me to continue serving as your rabbi.

The relationship between rabbi and congregation is often described as a "sacred partnership," and I am blessed to reaffirm the bonds we first established more than five years ago. Of course, this is a most exciting time to renew our vows. With the creation of a new temple structure, now a reality before us, we will have the opportunity to see our many dreams for GRS truly come to fruition.

Relationships are, of course, a two-way street.  While I hold a vision for our temple, including the many programs we will offer, most sacred to me is the relationship I share with each and every member. Over the past five years, I have had the privilege of being invited into so many of your lives, as we have shared both moments of joy and challenge together.  Still, there are others, whom I have not had the opportunity to walk with.  As we journey together as a congregational family, let me express once again, that most dear to me are the partnerships I experience with my congregants. Your voices, your thoughts and feelings are so important to me. Please know, I am truly here for each and every one of you.

With deep appreciation,

Rabbi Andy

Rabbi Andrew R. Sklarz, MSW
Message from the Cantor

Cantor Sabrina LiptonDear Congregants:

I will be participating in the "We Bring Light" service at 7:00 pm on December 14th at The Church of Christ the Healer, 20 Brookdale Road (corner of High Ridge Road) Stamford.

This is an interfaith service being done to remember the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary School, one year after the tragic event.

I encourage all to attend and show that we at GRS have not forgotten the traumatic shooting that took the lives of so many innocent people. You can CLICK HERE for more information on this meaningful event.

I hope this final night of Chanukah is filled with joy for you and your families.

Most sincerely,

Cantor Sabrina

Disaster Relief for those affected by Typhoon Haiyan

GRS will be collecting clothing to be sent to those who are in need. Warm weather clothing is mainly needed, however, moderately heavier clothing items will be accepted as well. You can drop off your donation at the GRS office during office hours.

You can help support the relief efforts in the Philippines through the URJ General Disaster Relief Fund. Aid groups are working to deliver safe drinking water, food and life-saving supplies to the disaster zones. You will also find a link to prayers for victims of natural disasters. Visit the website below for complete information and to donate.

You can also make a donation through UJA Greenwich. JDC's disaster relief programs are funded by special appeals of the Jewish Federations of North America and through the kindness of tens of thousands of individual donors to JDC. 100% of all contributions received by UJA in support of the relief effort will be immediately forwarded to JDC. To make a secure online donation to the fund through UJA Greenwich,  CLICK HERE.
