Beha'alotecha
(Numbers 8:1-12:16)
God delivers the laws to the people about the menorah, the sanctification of the Levites, the second Passover, and the making of shofarot (the trumpets). Also, three rebellions against Moses occur: first, the people demand meat in addition to manna, second, Eldad and Medad arise as possible prophets, and finally Miriam and Aaron rebel against Moses' power and ethical behavior.

A Message from Rabbi Sklarz

What A Spectacular Confirmation Service
Dear Friends,
How proud I am of our Confirmands - Joshua Ford, Noah Freeman and Matthew Kramer. Last Shabbat, as we celebrated the Festival of
Shavuot, our Confirmands led the liturgy in prayer and song, and delivered extremely meaningful pieces reflecting their personal sense of Jewish identity and their understanding of an ethical maxim of a great rabbinic sage of the Talmud. So much heart and soul was put into every detail of the service by our Confirmands, and the evening was enhanced with their musical talents of voice, guitar, ukulele and even shofar. How moved all in attendance were by the Confirmands' passion and commitment to Jewish life, and how touched we all were by the sense of family created.
As a rabbi, Confirmation is always a bittersweet experience for me. Sad, on the one hand, to know that our formal time of study together has come to an end, yet joyous to see the potential that lies ahead for each one of our Confirmands! Watch out - these three will indeed make their marks upon our world, both in the Jewish and secular spheres!
With great pride in the fruits of GRS,
Rabbi Andy

Tour de Shuls Sunday, June 23, 2013
| | |
The fourth annual Tour de Shuls CT will be held on Sunday, June23rd. More than simply a bike ride, Tour de Shuls is a community event to support the Camp Ramah Tikvah program and Camp Eisner and Crane Lake Chazak program. The Tikvah (Hope) and Chazak (Strength) programs serve Jewish children with developmental disabilities and other physical challenges. Participating in the Tour enables Tikvah and Chazak campers to experience the joys and
camaraderie of Jewish summer camp -- swimming, soccer, arts&crafts,
singing around the campfire, celebrating Shabbat--by providing schlarships to defray the costs of attending camp.

This 8-week support group is for young people in grades 6 - 8 whose lives have been impacted by divorce. Here at JFS, we encourage group members to discuss their feelings, normalize divorce as a common occurrence, and help children better understand the process of divorce. Regardless of whether the child has reacted strongly or mildly from the changes in the family, they can benefit from this experience.

Please join our confidential, 8-week support group, where you can feel free to talk about your personal challenges in being a stepmother. We will try to give you the gifts of understanding, validation and appreciation that the stepmother rarely receives. Facilitated by Linda Schlapfer, LMFT
